I guess if we are going to do buy games occasionally, this one is as good as any. Better than giving Arky or Purdue a buy game.
Anyone laying odds on whether Norvell will still be there??
I watched the FSU spring game video. McKenzie Milton looked really good. He is somewhat limited with a brace on his leg but...he was still effective. I think Norvell knows what he is doing and will be there a long time.

Gutsy move by Norvell. Clearly he is very confident and expects to have things rolling by then. IF he doesn't, we are still better than them, and beat them; FSU fans will smell blood.
Kudos to Norvell (I'm sure he used some sway with the administration) for giving Memphis an opportunity to get some exposure. As fans, we've asked to sit at the big boy table and play against teams other than Northwest Kentucky Bait & Tackle Shop as our OOC opponents, so here's our chance to make a little noise.

I'm happy to be playing Florida State, but not happy about a one game, buy game situation, would love a home and home, but 2-1 would be acceptable. Our program has come a long way, and the term buy game just puts us in the category of mid major, a term I hate, and hate our program being identified with. Over the past few years we've proven that we belong and cannot only play with the big boys but beat them.
It is a start in upgrading our non-conference schedule. Unfortunately, we are not in a position where we can go in and demand a home and home series with P5 conference teams or walk away from the table. The ones we want to play can let us walk and find someone else.
I think our best outcome is to schedule more games with certain teams so it becomes a pattern, not just a one off, then we can negotiate for a 2-1 or 3-1.
Just the world we are in until either we get in one of the P5 or the AAC is accepted into the power club.

We once had an eight game home-and-home series with Alabama. Not sure what that has to do with now.
