Men's Tennis
The men's tennis team finishes their regular season this Fridasy when they play at Western Michigan. They are currently 21-2 on the season with their only 2 losses to DePaul and Western Michigan earlier this month. Western Michigan is 20-1 with their only loss to Notre Dame.

Patrick Fisher, the men's tennis coach is a true Huskie and has been at NIU for 12 years. As a NIU tennis alumni it is great to see the success the team is having this year. Go Huskies!

CH, since you are familiar with College tennis, where does NIU go from here? Is there a MAC tennis tourney? Is there an NCAA tourney? Would NIU get a bid with a 21-2 record? How does it work?
Any info would be most appreciated.

Sorry for the delayed response. I should know more about your question, but here is my best shot. Men's tennis is similar to football with the Power 5 and the MAC being a Mid Major. 64 teams get invited to the Team tourney. They eliminated the MAC year end tourney a few years ago to save $, so I do not believe there is an auto tie-in to get in. WMU (who is always solid in tennis) did play in the NCAA tourney in 2019. This years team is very strong, but there is probably not a next step team wise after the WMU match- but I could be wrong They lost to WMU 6-1 earlier in the season, be great to see them knock them off. In addition to team championship, there are individual singles and doubles tourneys as well. No matter, as Huskie fans, be proud of an impressive mens tennis team this year

Thanks CH! Hopefully they can get an at large bid for the 64 team field. Like you say, they had a great season regardless.

Huskies lost to WMU 4-3 today.

Finished the season 21-3, 7-2. Both conference losses to WMU.

WMU earns the MAC championship and NCAA bid.

Lost 7-1 last match against them so NIU played WMU a little tougher today.
