And before you call me a Brannen hater, I advocated for him to get another year to right the ship.

Well, your boy Brannen didn't leave Wes a whole lot to work with. So, yeah, expectations for Miller are lower than they were for Brannen in year 1.

I’m mean after that huge win against bottom dwelling Tulane of course you have to spike the interwebs football on all the very sick Brannen haters. Any reasonable we’ll adjusted person would do the same.

UC finished 116 kenpom this year. The tournament run was nice, but UC was sandwiched between Kent State and pacific in their final ranking. Even so, had there not been other issues and his entire freshman class not bailed as a result (never mind the many other transfers) there would have actually been reason to at least believe there was a chance, that this year was truly bottoming out. Miller isn't inheriting the conference player of the year, Jarron Cumberland, Tre Scott and junior Keith Williams. So yea, he's going to be given some leeway, but ultimately he'll have to produce.

Brannen cratered the team.

The clown is gone.

He came in with a full squad that was very talented and was iffy his first year (horrible losses) making the tourney. I thought they were going to make it basically because Tre was going off and KW had some huge games down the stretch. Maybe they make the tourney and form and identity but outside circumstances came into play.

Year 2, he brought in solid recruits and again out the gate we were awful with horrible losses. The players turned it on at the end of the season and almost all of them left. We have no culture or identity.

Culture and identity is goal 1 for new coach along with getting players that fit that mold (maybe CBJ’s problem idk)! We’ll worry about wins/losses when the time comes.

RE: What does successful Miller time look like?
It depends on if we are talking 3 year expectations, or overall expectations?

For 3 year, with this conference and the transfer portal, if he's as good as billed, he should be able to have a chance to get this team back into the NCAA in year 2 or 3.

Shouldn't the overall expectations be for him to be better than the coach(es) before him? If anyone spent any time reading this board the past few years, they'd come to the conclusion that the reason why UC they didn't put up much of a fight to keep Cronin, is because they were tired of his so-so results. The reason why they ousted Brannen is because they didn't like the direction of the program.

I don't want to go back the "glory" years of 2nd round exits under Cronin (and Huggs).

I mean shouldn't we have the same expectations at CWM? He said his expectation is to be the last team standing at the end of the year. (I say that mostly tongue in cheek) 02-13-banana

NCAA tourney considerations by Year 2, Routine Top 25 end of year finishes starting Year 3, and occasionally Top 15.

-No bad losses in OOC
-Finish top 5 in AAC
-Top 100 KenPom

Year 2:

Ideally also beat Xavier in 2 of the next 3 games.

Yeah, I think this is basically on-target.

Year one goals really are to establish a core team and culture. Really, I would hope that we don't finish any lower than last season: so top 5 in the AAC would be ideal. It'd also be nice to not have any 40+ losses...much less a pair of them. An invite to a post-season tournament would be gravy at this point.

A realistic Year Two goal is an invite to the NIT or NCAA. No expectations on how far we go in the post season, but playing in one of the non-play-to-play tournaments should be our target.

Year Three and going forward, I would hope that NCAA bid, or NIT on an off year, would be the expectation. I don't think you can say "Elite 8 or nothing," but I would also hope that we can at least get out of the opening weekend every-so-often. YES, "Sweet 16" banners are "for the fans," but you need to take the fans into account.

Oh, and we should be beating X at least every-other-time. I'm not going to say "We need to beat X every year" but we should at least be competitive and be able to stand on level ground with them. Especially with Steele coaching them...we could very well beat them next year.

And the Jr. Class he inherited was? Cronin left the pipeline empty. There are 2 separate issues - coaching and personality.

Damn, I hope there are no tough practices next hear. The players now know how to fix that problem.

Let me see the team he puts together for next year and then I'll let you know.

How the he!! am I supposed to know how they're going to do when I don't even know who they are yet?

As far as a Brannen comparison, it's not like Miller is walking into a team with Jarron Cumberland and Tre Scott.

I am not a shill for Brannen. I am a voice asking for sanity where there is none. I do hope he gets paid though.

Year 1: Put a team on the floor, don’t have them all transfer.
Year 2: Compete for a spot in the tournament, don’t have them all transfer.
Year 3: Make the tournament, don’t have them all transfer.
Year 4: Win at least one tournament game, don’t have them all transfer.
Year 5: Sweet 16 or better, don’t have them all transfer.

If you weren't a Brannen "shill" then you wouldn't be so resentful of the new coach.

I would think that this certainly qualifies as a prima facie case of being a troll.
