She'll be 84 when the 2022 elections are held. It's time for her to be replaced. Surely they can find someone who can beat her in the election?

RE: Mad Max: Cookin’ w/ Gasolina
Quote:Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) responded to backlash over controversial remarks that she made over the weekend by claiming that Republicans were trying to “seize” on what she said so that they could raise money from the “KKK” and “white supremacists.”

Waters said at a protest in Minnesota over the weekend that they were “looking for a guilty verdict” and if they don’t get what they want then “we cannot go away.” When asked what “protesters” should do if they do not get the verdict that they want, Waters responded that activists have “got to stay on the street,” “get more active,” and “get more confrontational.”

Waters’ alleged incitement sparked massive backlash, including calls for her to be removed from her committee assignments and even removed from Congress.

Waters responded to the backlash over her comments by telling The Grio that “Republicans will jump on any word, any line and try to make it fit their message and their cause for denouncing us and denying us, basically calling us violent … any time they see an opportunity to seize on a word, so they do it and they send a message to all of the white supremacists, the KKK, the Oath Keepers, the [Proud] Boys and all of that, how this is a time for [Republicans] to raise money on [Democrats] backs.”

Waters claimed that her comments about being “confrontational” were about “confronting the justice system” and “confronting the policing that’s going on.”

“I am not worried that they’re going to continue to distort what I say. This is who they are and this is how they act,” Waters said without providing any evidence that her opponents had distorted the comments that she made. “And I’m not going to be bullied by them.”

The Grio added:

If Chauvin is found guilty, however, Waters said it would signal activists and politicians calling for police reform are “making some progress and that everything that we have done, including the protests, has led us to a point where we’re being taken seriously and we’re being treated fairly.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Monday that Waters should not apologize for her remarks and White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki dodged directly answering a question on the matter.

Quote:House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy announced on Monday that he will move to censure Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters (CA) for allegedly inciting violence with remarks that she made over the weekend.

“This weekend in Minnesota, Maxine Waters broke the law by violating curfew and then incited violence. Increased unrest has already led to violence against law enforcement and her comments intentionally poured fuel on the fire,” McCarthy said in a statement. “We’ve heard this type of violent rhetoric from Waters before, and the United States Congress must clearly and without reservation reprimand this behavior before more people get hurt. But Speaker Pelosi is ignoring Waters’ behavior. That’s why I am introducing a resolution to censure Rep. Waters for these dangerous comments, and I hope that all my colleagues – both Republican and Democrat – will stand up for peace on America’s streets.”

According to House Democrat Caucus rules, if Waters is censured then would be stripped of her position as chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee.

Rule 25 states:

A Chair of a standing, select, special, or joint committee of the Congress, or subcommittee thereof, who is censured by a vote of the House when the Democratic Party is the majority party in the House of Representatives, or who is convicted of a felony for which a sentence of two or more years of imprisonment may be imposed, shall cease to exercise the powers of the Chair and shall not serve as Chair of any committee or subcommittee for the remainder of that Congress.

Waters said at a protest in Minnesota over the weekend that “protesters” were “looking for a guilty verdict” and if they don’t get what they want then “we cannot go away.” When asked what “protesters” should do if they do not get the verdict that they want, Waters responded that activists have “got to stay on the street,” “get more active,” and “get more confrontational.”

Yamiche Alcindor Tries to Clean up After Maxine Waters, Absolutely Beclowns Herself

Quote:PBS’ Yamiche Alcindor is quite the journalist. After rising to some level of prominence (at least among her mediocre peers) during the Trump years by asking misleading, partisan narrative driving questions of Kayleigh McEnany, Alcindor has continued her race to become the most hackish reporter of all time. I’m not sure she’s quite there yet, but she’s in the running. Heck, I think she’s making Jim Acosta blush at this point.

Alcindor, for example, apparently has no idea how trials work.

Wait, you mean Chauvin’s lawyers are attempting to make a counter-argument to the case being brought forth by the prosecution against their client? What a shocking, completely unheard of development. And here I thought that the defense was just supposed to agree with whatever charges and testimony are brought against them without rebuttal.

She wasn’t done for the day, though. Later, in a tortured attempt to clean up after Maxine Waters’ ridiculous, damaging comments (see Maxine Waters’ Behavior in Minnesota Has Been Rightly Noticed as ‘Abhorrant’ By Chauvin Trial Judge), Alincdor dropped this “fact-check” that manages to reach Hall of Fame levels of gaslighting. Remember, not only is this person supposedly an unbiased journalist, but she’s at least partially paid for by your tax dollars as well.

Fact-check: Maxine Waters did far more to incite violence in her commentary than Donald Trump ever did on January 6th (mainly because Trump didn’t call for violence at all), yet Alcindor is only defending one of those people. I wonder why?

Really, go read Waters’ comments for yourself (see here for a breakdown). She told an already violent mob to get even more “confrontational.” What exactly does that mean if it’s not a call for escalating the already occurring violence? Are we to believe that Waters just meant to yell louder? Come on, we know exactly what she meant, and she said it because she knows there will be no consequences. Nancy Pelosi will do nothing, and Republicans will have to wait until 2022 to act, and that’s if they have the spine to do so.

Regardless, Alincdor is certainly in no position to “fact-check” what Waters meant, especially when her job is ostensibly to just report the facts. Does she claim to be able to read Waters’ mind? Further, by the very standard Alcindor has previously pushed in regards to Trump, Waters went above and beyond in calling for violence. How about a little consistency?

Besides, when even the Chauvin trial judge, a man who has been very lenient on the prosecution, is saying that Waters crossed the line, I’m thinking she crossed the line. Journalists are supposed to be there to call crap like this out, not make ridiculous, false excuses for it. But Yamiche is no journalist. She’s an activist, and it’d be a lot easier if she’d stop pretending otherwise.

Can you compare the actual words that Waters clearly said and what Trump did at the Mall in January?

As in, what they both actually said?

Are you aware of her backing of the brick throwing thug that smashed Reginald Denny’s skull in 1992 or whenever the LA riots were? You’re old enough to remember that, right?

If not, go watch that poor truck driver get dragged out of his cab and have his head and face smashed.

Yea, she supported that.

No comparison to “Go peacefully have your voices heard”. None. She needs to be brought up on charges of incitement at the very least.

Despicable human detritus.

Catholic League Decries Maxine Waters’ ‘War on Cops’

FNC’s Carlson: ‘Maxine Waters Is Someone Who Supports Mob Violence — She Always Has Supported, We Have Known This’

Dershowitz: Maxine Waters’ Tactics ‘Borrowed Precisely from the Ku Klux Klan’

Quote:Tuesday on Newsmax TV’s “Stinchfield,” Harvard law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz addressed Rep. Maxine Waters’ (D-CA) tactics amid the Derek Chauvin trial, saying she is trying to “influence” and “intimidate” the jury.

Dershowitz said Waters is taking a page out of the Ku Klux Klan’s playbook to influence court cases by threatening violence.

“First of all, the judge should have granted the motion for a mistrial based on the efforts of Congresswoman Waters to influence the jury,” Dershowitz declared. “Her message was clearly intended to get to the jury — ‘If you will acquit or if you find the charge less than murder, we will burn down your buildings. We will burn down your businesses. We will attack you. We will do what happened to the witness — blood on their door.’ This was an attempt to intimidate the jury. It’s borrowed precisely from the Ku Klux Klan of the 1930s and 1920s when the Klan would march outside of courthouses and threatened all kinds of reprisals if the jury ever dared convict a white person or acquit a black person. And so, efforts to intimidate a jury should result in a mistrial with the judge, of course, wouldn’t grant a mistrial because then he’d be responsible for the riots that would ensue, even though it was Waters who was responsible.”

He predicted Chauvin will be convicted at least on the charge of manslaughter but believes it will go to the Court of Appeals.

“[S]o now, if there is a conviction, and I think there will be a conviction, at least on the manslaughter charge, the issue will go to the Court of Appeals,” he advised. “And will the Court of Appeals have the courage to reverse this conviction on the ground … that the jury was subjected to intimidation tactics, not only by Waters but by others as well who threatened violence in the event of an acquittal or a lesser charge than murder.”

RE: Mad Max: Cookin’ w/ Gasolina
Quote:Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) is not only facing backlash from Republicans and Judge Peter Cahill for her incendiary comments related to the Derek Chauvin trial, but she also reportedly angered her Democratic colleagues.

The development comes after House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) vowed to censure Waters.

What are the details?
According to Fox News reporter Chad Pergram, Democrats found Waters' comments "revolting" and there is "disgust" among the House Democratic caucus, which "metastasized" after Cahill publicly rebuked Waters.

"Congressional Democrats have a major problem with House Financial Services Committee Chairwoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) and her 'confrontational' comments in Minnesota over the weekend," Pergram reported. "Fox is told that rank-and-file Democrats found what Waters said revolting. But that disgust among Democrats further metastasized after Hennepin, MN County Judge Peter Cahill criticized Waters from the bench, describing her remarks as 'disrespectful to the rule of law.'

In fact, some Democrats would reportedly support an effort to discipline Waters with a formal censure, Pergram reported.

But Fox is told that a lot of Democrats are angry at Waters, are concerned about the optics of potential violence being linked back to her and Democrats generally. Don't forget how many moderate Democrats were beside themselves following the midterms and the "defund the police" movement. With such a narrow majority, Democrats can only lose two votes on their side.

Fox is told that some Democrats could in fact support what one lawmaker termed a "reasonably worded" censure resolution to rebuke Waters. Plus, voting to punish Waters may well be good politics for some battleground district Democrats. One knowledgeable Democrat told Fox that some Democratic members are so angry at Waters now that they would relish the opportunity to censure her.
What is the background?
Over the weekend, Waters urged protesters in Minnesota to "get more confrontational" if Chauvin is found not guilty in the death of George Floyd.

"You got to make sure that they know we mean business," Waters said, also openly dismissing the curfew enacted by law enforcement.

In response, Judge Cahill, who is presiding over the Chauvin trial, blasted Waters, and said her comments could be used by the defense in an appeal to argue for a mistrial.

"I will give you that Congresswoman Waters may have given you something on appeal that may result in this whole trial being overturned," Cahill said after denying the defense's motion for a mistrial over Waters' remarks.

"This goes back to what I've been saying from the beginning. I wish elected officials would stop talking about this case especially in a manner that is disrespectful to the rule of law, and to the judicial branch and our function," the judge added. "I think if they want to give their opinions they should do so in a respectful and in a manner that is consistent with their oath to the Constitution to respect a coequal branch of government."

"Their failure to do so is abhorrent!" he said.

Man Who Shot at National Guard After Maxine Waters' Call to Get More 'Confrontational' Is Arrested

Quote:Federal authorities have now arrested the man that they say fired on the National Guard in Minneapolis, Minnesota after Rep.Maxine Waters (D-CA) called for people to get “more confrontational.’

The Guard was on patrol with the police in north Minneapolis when they were fired upon from a light-colored SUV on the Guard.

According to a statement from the Justice Department, one bullet went through the windshield of the team’s military vehicle in which there were four soldiers. Two of the Minnesota National Guard sustained minor injuries. One went to the hospital for injuries from shattered glass. The other was treated at the scene for superficial injuries.

According to the complaint, the vehicle of Andrew Thomas, 28, was caught on a surveillance camera. When police found the car, they allege he made several “evasive maneuvers” but police were able to pull over the car. There was a juvenile in the car who they ordered out. The juvenile said there was a gun in the car. The juvenile said Thomas, who he only knew as “Black,” put the gun somewhere in the car. The juvenile said that he had only met Thomas a week before at a motel in St. Paul. Police found two guns in the car, a 9 mm pistol and a .22 caliber revolver with an obliterated serial number, according to the DOJ statement.

Inside the car were bullet casings that matched the casings found at the scene of the shooting.

Thomas was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, because he had a prior conviction in Hennepin County in 2017 for a third-degree assault, according to the complaint.

Thomas has not yet been charged specifically with the shooting, but they will likely add that charge at a later point. No picture has yet been released on the suspect.

Maxine may get censured by congress. Democrats only have a very slim (5 vote I think) lead, so it doesnt take many of them to agree to censure for it to happen.

She knows that. Even Pelosi defended her. Ugly old hags that surely have a place in Satans domain. That's the only good thing about them, that they'll get their due.

Yea, we'll see on this censure idea. Didn't they propose a censure of of Omar at one point for her ugly antisemitism? They watered the language down so much as to be pointless and completely devoid of any real consequence.

Likely the same here, and my local Rep could well be one that joins in, her margin of W was in the hundreds I believe. I think she's gone in '22 anyway.
