This is a HUGE get.
He wanted to go to Memphis all along, but at the time... the AAC had rules against athletes transferring from one school to another.
He had transferred to Arkansas State when the AAC reversed its stance on that... so he is now coming to Memphis instead.
He played Center at Cinci before he got Covid last season. His replacement was playing so well, the coaches just left that guy in.
Our offensive line this season should return to the form we became accustomed to under Norvell when our running game was one of the best in the country.

You’re about a month behind on his commitment, a week behind on a tweet announcement and 4 days behind the official announcement and posts.

He announced to Memphis but the AAC said he would have to sit out a year for an inter conference transfer so he announced to Ark St. I think the very next day they changed the rule so he announced back to Memphis.

from what I had read... the rule changed Tuesday of this past week.
This is why I am just now hearing of this guy... I just saw it in my Gmail.

Strill doesn't change the fact that OLine play should be MUCH improved (crossing fingers here)

I have no problem with intraconference transfers sitting out. Think everyone should be forced to sit out.

Coaches switch jobs and coach.
Fans switch schools and cheer.
Players should be able to switch and play.

We are a free country. And that means everyone; after all we are not China.

The transfer portal has grown from about 1400 to near 4000 at present. With everyone eligible for another year, it is estimated that only about 1/2 of those in the portal will actually find a new home. That means the other 1/2 in the portal who had a paid education now have nothing. All of these latest transfer "rights" are supposed to provide more rights to the individual student-athlete yet in practice will leave most of these athletes out in the cold with no better landing spot & no paid education. Not sure that's progress. Sitting out is the least of the problem.

I guess that will result in Austin Peay and UTMartin getting better guys and those displaced there will be D2, NAIA or D3 (if they can afford to pay their own tuition). That part is sad.

Bottom line, a large number seeking to transfer will get left out in the cold. The two factors contributing are the new freshmen coming in taking up available scholarships, extended seniors & other classes in this one-time extra year taking up scholarships & those not finding a home out of the portal being squeezed out & losing their free education in the process. And that free education is still the most valuable element of playing scholarship athletics for the vast majority of these student-athletes even though it gets buried due to the pro pursuit that is actually only available for less than 2% of those on scholarship.
