RE: Hands Up...
It’s no surprise that Mick was on Twitter the minute news broke that Wes was hired touting this as a great hire that will be great for the school he still loves. Not only did we hire a really good coach but we got the great fit we completely swung and missed on 2 years ago. Wes knows and respects what it means to be a Bearcat. He’s one of us. I’ll always go to the mat for a coach that will do the same for the players and the program.

RE: Hands Up...
Wes Miller seems like a good fit to get along with Coach Fick too.
Birds of a feather. Miller is probably going to a grill out at Fick Manor this afternoon after the Spring scrimmage.

Maybe Fick's wife has a single younger sister who likes Basketball?

I mean he did drop the "ladies i'm single" hint in presser. May be happy with that bachelor lifestyle.

Why are you guys so into his personal life? For Chrissakes this is Bearcat basketball, not the Bachelor.

Methinks you guys have been cooped up Corona’d too long.

Everyone I know is fired up about this guy. Two years ago everyone I knew just kind of shrugged their shoulders when the last guy was hired.

Not into it. Thought it was funny that he dropped the I'm single line into his opening presser. Having some fun.

I won a national championship for North Carolina, I’m making over $1 million dollars a year, I’m under 40 with a full head of hair and I’m new in town. You best believe I want all the local talent to know I came to get down.

No doubt. I'm all for it. Using it as a way to say how committed he'll be to the program was smooth.

RE: Hands Up...
I do believe whole heartedly that the basketball program is better off now than one year ago.

However, I’m not ready to declare victory and say we are going to return to the glory days in short order. I’ve been around too long and have too many sure-fire things fall through. Does anyone remember when a popular saying was, “In Marvin we trust.”? Often there are material obstacles outside of the control of the chosen one that can lead to shattered expectations.

Please don’t misread what I am saying. I am very happy about Wes Miller being selected as UC’s new coach. I think he is going to do very well. I’m just not ready to start counting chickens.

I think MIck Juzang-Cronin came out in suupport of WM because he wants to be on the right side of history. I think the one interesting thing with WM is he's from a back round with enough wealth he can kind of pick and choose what he does and not worry about the money. Hopefully he takes to the area, and we have him for a while as I think if given the time he can get us to a better level. I can kind of see why he would want to step out of the ACC den, and setup somewhere else as he seems very independent and not necessarily wanting to do his career under the same scenario he came up with as a player. Probably not a surprise when you played at NC and the WF arena is named after your family. I wondered why he didn't get the WF job, but when you would be coaching in the arena with you family name i could see the stress. Not sure if this article will access.

Right side of history? You know Cunningham called Mick during the process to consult about Miller and other candidates, right? Guess that’s one way to get on the right side of history.

RE: Hands Up...
What has me excited is to have a guy at the helm who has a vision and a style and PASSION that he can easily convey and communicate. He will eat up everything Bearcats and Cincinnati and will try to outwork everybody. He will gain the trust and respect of the players and coaches. He will make the university, students and alumni proud and fired up again about the hoops program. Does this sound familiar to another coach on the payroll?

I get it. It was the presser. There's work to do. Relationships to restore. Results on the court to achieve. Time will tell. But, I feel a hell of lot better today than I did a few weeks ago. Our program's trajectory is headed upward again. My hand is up...

When will we commission a statue?

Will Miller become the official beer of Bearcat Country. Well at least it is better than PBR.

I wonder if Fick will let him bunk at his IH estate until he find a condo?

Inquiry minds want to know.

I think from what I hear is the more important call was Miller calling Cronin to check the water temperature of the situation. LOL

Interesting take during the Tar Heel search: https://tarheeltribune.com/2021/04/01/we...ina-coach/

He got calls from both sides. Must be an awful guy. The right side of history take was probably trying a little too hard.

I think thats exactly why Steve Alford never coached at Indiana. Legend as a player and if things don't go the way they want, they lose that mystique about them. Tony Yates probably realized when it was too late. He lost his Mystique as the ' Coach on the floor' of 2 national championships.
