Defund the Police movement leads to nationwide police resignations
You’re a certifiable moron.

My wife has been in homes of incest, kids being prostituted by their own parents and plenty of “juvenile retention centers” aka f#%^ing MAX jails for complete psychopaths.

Sure, send in a social worker to one of these situations. You dope, who do you think comes out alive, who comes out in a body bag?

Dumb, ignorant people shouldn’t comment on schit they know nothing about.

Like, you know. Science?

You are a complete moron. I would hope you decide to be one of these social workers. Because the planet would be better off without your presence.

Before all you morons decide to replace the police, keep in mind none of us own any rubber bullets.

RE: Defund the Police movement leads to nationwide police resignations
Quote:On Wednesday, it was reported that 20 officers who serve on the Albuquerque Police Department’s (APD) Emergency Response Team (ERT) would be resigning from the team. However, they are not resigning from the force itself.

The move comes after a far-left counter-protest to a nonexistent event supposedly being put on by the New Mexico chapter of the Proud Boys, although sources close to the organization claim there was no protest originally planned at all that day.

According to Albuquerque Police Officers’ Association president Shaun Willoughby, the resignations from the ERT are because of the protest that happened on Civic Plaza over the weekend. According to KOB, “During the protest, officers said an armed man was taunting demonstrators, so APD field officers detained him. At the time of his detainment, the man was not charged.”

“APD officials later reversed that decision and put an officer on leave for the day to conduct an investigation. APD said there was a breakdown in the chain of command about whether charges would be pressed against the armed man.”

Seventeen officers, one lieutenant, and two sergeants resigned from the team that handles protests, according to Willoughby. The officers feel over-scrutinized, so they decided to take a stand together.

Willoughby says, “This comes down to a lack of trust,” adding that “They’re damned if they do, and they’re damned if they don’t.”

“They don’t feel supported here, and they don’t feel trust. They feel second-guessed, and they don’t feel that they can do their job, no matter how perfect they do their job, without getting in trouble,” Willoughby added.

However, Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller’s APD spokesperson released the following statement:

“Chief Medina made it clear that we cannot have a breakdown in communication during critical incidents. We have worked hard to earn back the public’s trust. We will lose that trust if we resist accountability and culture change.”

“I think Mayor Keller needs to make a serious decision of what this police department’s priority structure is,” Willoughby said. “I think that he needs to carry that sentiment down to the police chief, so that your police officers feel supported.”

According to Willoughby, over 20 APD officers have quit the force altogether within the last two months, following an all-out assault on law enforcement during the legislative session earlier this year and Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller having social workers respond to some calls instead of officers. There have also been many proposals from the Albuquerque City Council to “defund” parts of APD.

“We are seeing a dramatic increase of Albuquerque police officers applying to go to other departments,” Willoughby said. “Morale, let’s not even talk about it because it doesn’t exist. There is no morale. Your Albuquerque police officers are absolutely miserable at work— nobody’s happy.”

RE: Defund the Police movement leads to nationwide police resignations
I come from a law enforcement family. I do not work in law-enforcement personally, but my father, sister and three uncles all do/have.

As you can imagine, this is very personal issue for my family.

Also, as you can imagine when people start talking about defunding the police and all this other craziness, my family members become very defensive and angry. They feel like all of their hard work on the community’s behalf is for naught.

The answer is definitely not to throw the baby out with the bathwater. That would be the dumbest possible solution.

However, because they are reasonable people, they will also acknowledge that there are a lot of knuckleheads out there who need to be reeled in. They may not say that publicly, but privately they have said things to me like, “Most of the people I work with are really good cops. However, like every other industry, we do have some goofballs and they make the rest of us look bad.’”

My sister told me last summer that she has not undergone any sort of formal training in 17 years — 17 years! I don’t think the people who fill the ice cream at Dairy Queen go 17 years without some sort of training.

So, I definitely think we need to retrain much of our police force around this country so as to avoid so many of the circumstances that I’ve made the news in recent years. I think training would have resulted in a different outcome in a lot of these cases. I think more training would have caused that woman last week, for example, to not mistake her gun for a taser.

That’s a really dumb mistake with tragic consequences and it’s a consequence of poor training.

And really, she would want the extra training. Now, because she was not properly trained, multiple people’s lives have been ruined – including hers!

My uncle, one of the policeman I referenced earlier, has the best idea for this. He said last year that the solution would be to tie settlements to the pension fund and all this bull**** would end immediately.

That’s coming from a police officer! He did work in internal affairs so his perspective may be skewed a bit. Still, it’s an absolutely fabulous idea.

Now the same idiots that screamed "Defund the police" will now scream "Where's the police? when it takes forever for a cop to respond to their emergency call.

We all know there are bad actors within the ranks - there is (at least) one in every town. Some of this stems from yet another Democrat ideal - Unions.... A lot of these fuk-heads get protected by "their union". That is complete BS.

Cops should be fired if they cannot act responsibly and respectfully in their job - like any other non-union job.

Watch all of the cops worth anything walk as their pay and benefits get slashed to ribbons and their pension gets replaced by a 401k. If you want to see more Barney Fife incidents like we saw in Minnesota, this is a great stance to have.

Exactly - it is like all these big companies who offer early retirement packages. They end up losing all of their best people because they know they can take the money and get another gig, while all the idiots stay.

Exactly right. Also, if there are no police to meet force with force then what's to stop us on the right from shooting bad guys on the left as we see fit? And everyone knows the right is far more prepared and willing to literally fight for what we believe in.

RE: Defund the Police movement leads to nationwide police resignations
My wife teaches 4th grade. Last year she had a boy in her class that lived with his grandmother. Not unusual, but he lived with her because his parents were in prison for murder. They had a CPS case worker come to their house to do a check in, decided she would take their kids, so they beat her to death.

But by all means, let’s send social workers on all these domestic calls. It will work out great.

At first I thought this was a sarcastic joke aimed squarely at the liberal dumb@sses who want to replace cops with social workers, then I saw the poster and realized that he/she/xe/it wasn't joking and was serious. It takes a special kind of stupid to think that social workers need to be sent in to deal with criminals. I'm with you, I hope this moron becomes a social worker and learns firsthand what happens when you deal with a mentally ill drug addict who will not hesitate to kill someone.

RE: Defund the Police movement leads to nationwide police resignations
I wish every police officer that is in a liberal area where they are unwelcome, unappreciated, and underpaid to put their lives on the line daily would all resign en masse. Let the animals fend for themselves. Hopefully these officers can find employment in an area where their efforts are appreciated or can get out of it altogether and do something where they're not under constant attack from social justice warriors, Democrat politicians, and liberal judges.

Don't be surprised when you start hearing things like Federalizing local Law Enforcement. Dems don't want to defund police, they want to pick them out and control them.

And this is why you don't have to live in an insane blue state to be impacted by blue policies.

Election integrity DOES matter.

I still think there are more red states than what actually shows up because, as we've seen, the fraud runs deeps and it runs everywhere. Get rid of the fraud and I think you'd see more of America move out of the loony bin simply because their state would flip red.
