Really? Honestly, is that the best thought you had?

Why would any cop want someone that just popped off 8 shots and running from him...

to put his hands on the gun when it wasnt in his hand? This isnt Gunsmoke. You dont want his hands anywhere near that gun and you dont tell a person to take your hand and reach behind you and slowly drop the gun. Do you honestly know how crazy that sounds?

Put your hands up then lay on the ground with your arms spread wide. Then the cop goes over to him with his gun drawn and aimed at the person on the ground. The cop removes the gun. Better yet you have him lay on the ground and wait for back up to go get the gun.

This isnt a made up TV show...its real life

I am going to guess you have never once in your life been in a fight or any type of action that caused your adrenaline to rise.

Because I know, no one who can type can be as stupid as that comment you just made.

I don't think you watched the video. I did and I paused the video right before he was told to put his hands up. He still has the gun in his hand.

At that point, the cop tells him to show his hands and when the kid turns around to do exactly what the cop told him to do, he shoots him.

Think about that for a moment................

He got shot for doing exactly what the cop told him to do. What kind of message do you think that sends to young people.

RE: Chicago Next To Burn
Quote:CBS News deceptively cropped body camera footage that showed a 13-year-old boy holding a gun before he was fatally shot by Chicago police in March.

A law enforcement officer fatally shot Adam Toledo during an encounter in response to gunshots heard on a police scanner. Police said Toledo ignored “verbal directions, fled, used significant force, and was armed with a semiautomatic pistol,” which is why the officer fired.

Body cam footage released this week appears to show Toledo holding a weapon moments before he was shot, but CBS News posted a clip to its website and Twitter page that cropped out the footage showing the teen’s alleged firearm.

The CBS News article accompanying the cropped video did not directly acknowledge that Toledo was armed. Instead, the corporate media organization aired opposing claims from Eric Stillman, the law enforcement officer, who said he shot Toledo because he was “faced with a life-threatening and deadly force situation,” and Toledo’s family attorney, who claimed the gun was not in the teen’s hands when Stillman fired off a shot. CBS News did not respond to The Federalist’s request for comment.

While a semiautomatic pistol was recovered at the scene, multiple politicians such as Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot claimed there was “no evidence” the teen fired the weapon before he was shot. Failed Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang tweeted that Toledo was “unarmed” during the incident.

CBS News recently came under fire for deceptively editing out portions of a “60 Minutes” interview with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. While the corporate media organization deliberately left out portions of an interview with the Republican in an attempt to create a scandal surrounding his decision to use a local grocery store chain to administer COVID-19 vaccinations, untouched footage of the interview shows that CBS cut out key facts, such as which pharmacies received the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, when Publix was selected to distribute doses, and which location in Florida had the most seniors.

“The big lie, of course, which has been debunked by 100 percent of the people that have any type of knowledge on this, is that there was some type of conspiracy between Publix, which is our probably most respected company in the state, and me about some type of vaccine distribution that’s been debunked that was wrong,” DeSantis explained in a press conference after the edited segment aired.

I watched the video a number of time...in stop frame. The kid reaches behind him to grab the gun. The cop says Stop Stop as he reaches for the gun and then the kid turns towards the cop raising his hands. Less than one second the cop had no way of knowing the kid dropped the gun or was raising it to shoot him.

He clearly tells this kid to STOP STOP IT then you hear the shot. You are making **** up because you want to see it that way

So what you are saying is that the cop knew that he had the gun in his hand.

Why on earth would you say, " show me your hands" when you know he has a gun?

What he should have said was, " drop your weapon".

While its dark and hard to tell in most of the frames. There's a few that the light is on the kid, running. You never see a gun in his hand till the STOP IT, STOP!

this is entirely speculation but I dont think the cop KNEW he had a gun in his hand.. if you watch the video the kid has the gun behind is back, hiding it... so

I THINK

cop said raise your hands not seeing the gun... kid turns and starts raising his hands (one with a gun in it) cop sees gun coming up, and reacts..

In this case I think it was a mutual screwup.. both did things that caused what happened.

I just cant blame the cop. only a fool who has never ever done anything in their life that was risky and raised their adrenaline levels could not understand.

but of course there are plenty of pansies in todays world.

The kid had a gun he had just shot before the cops chased him and threw it down before the cop cornered him, no way this is anything but a justified shooting.

You are full of **** there's a video from the school that shows the kid reach into his pocket and pulls out the gun as he's turning.
The cop says show me your hands. No where did he as this kid to pull out a gun. SHOW ME YOUR HANDS...

Within 8/10 of a second you hear the cop say STOP IT, STOP, gun shot

The cop saw the gun no more than 8/10 of a second before firing and the kid was turning with that gun in his hand. On that turn he drops it behind the fence

Want to make a board bet that it went down like you said or I said? I can prove my understanding of how this went down. Can you, other than your opinion?

Loser does not post for a month...on this board

Match up this to the time the cop gave the orders. Watch in full screen and you see the kid reach into his pocket pulling out the gun. By this time the cop already said show me your hands. As the kid turns he drops the gun but the cop must have clearly saw it because he shouts STOP IT, STOP, then the shot.

The stop it stop part

This. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Dumforth doesn't care that a 13 year old had a gun, the Yang gang doesn't care that a 13 year old had a gun, the liberal media wants people to think an innocent 13 year old child was just brutally gunned down. This kid chose his own path. End of story.

You are the worst kind of person. I hope you never end up in any position of authority over another human being or in a position with one on one interaction with a coworker.

RE: Chicago Next To Burn
Quote:A Chicago prosecutor is now on leave after allegedly spreading misinformation when he suggested, in court, that 13-year-old Adam Toledo, was armed when he was shot by police in the city’s Little Village neighborhood, even though the video, released by Chicago Police, seems to show Toledo holding a gun just seconds before the police officer discharges his weapon.

The Toledo video, released late last week, shows Chicago Police responding to an early morning call of gunshots. After spotting Toledo, the police give chase, eventually running into Toledo in an alley. One cop can be heard warning the 13-year-old to “turn around and drop the gun.”

The video shows Toledo turning toward the officer with his hand still behind him. He drops the gun behind him and turns with his hands up and in view of the officer. At the same time, the officer fires the fatal shot. The space of time is a fraction of a second, and it is difficult to tell whether the officer knew Toledo was complying with his order when he fired.

Other videos, taken from Chicago PD surveillance cameras, nearby security cameras, and officer bodycam footage, viewed by the Chicago Tribune, seem to show that Toldeo threw the gun away just moments before the officer fired, per the Tribune’s report.

Prosecutors, however, said in court that Toledo had the gun in his hand when he was shot, effectively misrepresenting the video.

“At a court hearing last week for Ruben Roman, the 21-year-old with Toledo on the night of his death, [Assistant State’s Attorney James] Murphy had suggested in his description of the shooting that the 13-year-old had a gun in his hand when he was shot by Chicago Police Officer Eric Stillman,” Forbes reported Sunday.

“Toledo had a gun in his right hand as he turned toward the officer,” Murphy said, according to the court record. “The officer fires one shot at [Toledo], striking him in the chest. The gun that [Toledo] was holding landed against the fence a few feet away.”

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s office rebutted Murphy’s statement when it began to trend on social media, saying in a statement that Murphy was in error and “[e]rrors like that cannot happen and this has been addressed with the individual involved. The video speaks for itself.”

They added that Murphy “did not fully inform himself” before participating in the hearing: “an attorney who works in this office failed to fully inform himself before speaking in court.”

On Sunday, the State’s Attorney’s office announced that Murphy was suspended.

“In court last week, an attorney in our office failed to fully present the facts surrounding the death of a 13-year-old boy,” a spokesperson for the State’s Attorney told The Hill. “We have put that individual on leave and are conducting an internal investigation into the matter.”

Media outlets are also under fire for editing the Toledo video. CBS is facing a serious backlash for allegedly splicing the footage to demonstrate, more clearly, that Toldeo was not armed when he was shot.

“CBS News is facing heat over a video the network shared on Twitter Thursday that critics say crops out a critical part of body camera footage showing the police chase that led to 13-year-old Adam Toledo’s death in Chicago last month,” Fox News reported late last week. CBS News, the network added, “tweeted a video formatted for mobile devices. As a result, both sides of the bodycam footage were cropped and the image of Toledo holding the gun was omitted.”

I don't think you watched the video. I did and I paused the video right before he was told to put his hands up. He still has the gun in his hand.

At that point, the cop tells him to show his hands and when the kid turns around to do exactly what the cop told him to do, he shoots him.

Think about that for a moment................

He got shot for doing exactly what the cop told him to do. What kind of message do you think that sends to young people.

I don’t understand you morons. You weren’t there. You weren’t put in that situation. You fire a gun in a public setting known for extreme violence then run from law enforcement you are asking to be shot. Good with me in any circumstance. The kid asked to be shot by his actions. It’s not a freakin video game! Some on here have even suggested that social workers be sent instead of police. Well you got a least one less social worker here and the rest refusing to be put in that situation. You libs are morons.

No. He got shot because he got himself in an armed confrontation with the public and police. Regardless of how you parse or intepret the the video---the entire confrontation is due entirely to wreckless and violent behavior of the kid himself. I understand that he's very young---but the reality is some mistakes are deadly. When you decide to be a criminal, running around at night slinging lead at police---if it ends badly---thats kinda on you.

Its the same reason I dont think Ashley Babitts killer should face criminal prosecution (despite the fact the capital policeman shot and killed an UNARMED 110 pound female when a simple shove to chest would have been just as effective). The capital police officer made a mistake. That said, I also dont think Ashley Babitt's killer should ever be an armed front line police officer ever again. He should be riding a desk where his poor crisis decision making wont ever cause unnecessary death again.
