But we all agree he didn't recruit as well when he started to feel unhappy here.
In Cronin's last 7 years here's all the 4-star or higher guys.
Keith Williams (#128)
Jaron Cumberland (#56)
Jacob Evans (#130)
Gary Clark (#109)
That's less than one 4-star guy a year and only one Top 100 recruit.
And it just so happens UC's best team in Cronin's 15 year was when those 4 guys where all on the same team.
If Wes isn't landing one 4-star guy every year then he's not recruiting well enough.

Bolded, hard to disagree with your assertion here with the evidence presented. Looking at those four, it's interesting that Evans @ #130 far exceeded #128 Williams in terms of development and draft potential; Williams was a superb athlete and seemed better as a role player than a go to guy at crunch time.
With that said, yes, more of these type players are needed as we never really know which will become Bearcat Hall of Famers or All Americans, and which won't reach those heights.
And thinking further about that list, imagine just one more 4 star every other recruiting cycle and I think Mick would have delivered a couple more Sweet Sixteen trips and an Elite Eight during his time here.

We can always recruit better in every sport, and I do love when we get higher ranked guys. Its exciting, but I think its more important to find the right guys. I think it was apparent the moment both Clark and Evans stepped on Campus that they were undervalued as recruits.
If we can continue to find those types of guys I won't worry/care as much about rankings. It would be exciting to get some guys closer to the top 50 though.

I am sure that there were plenty of higher ranked recruits during Cronin's time that would have "fit in" and "fit the system" at UC.
Huggs seemed to find plenty that did.
I hope Coach Wes finds them too.

Agree on Clark and Evans--great Bearcats who were fun to watch. I'll always wonder what another season might have meant for Evans in terms of his staying power in the NBA.
One thing we haven't discussed much here is that Wes may be specially qualified to recruit and coach in what is now a predominantly southern AAC. Adding Dollar to the staff would suggest the same. Was this intentional on the part of Cunningham when he hired Wes? If so, it seems to be further evidence of a wise hiring decision.

Fair question but I'm going to say probably not much. For whatever reason after being a 40%+ 3pt shooter for 2 1/2 seasons here he lost his shot towards the end of his junior year. His NBA path was always going to be a 3 & D guy; he was an incredible versatile perimeter defender here. He never regained his stroke in the NBA, I find it hard to believe he would have had a better chance of regaining it here considering all the extra time you can put in while in the league. We'll never know but I don't believe the results are any better if he comes back and more likely loses the 2 yr guaranteed contract he got as a 1st rd pick.

Who had Gary ranked #109? He was in the high 80’s for 247 I believe and I think he was in the 70’s for some other national rankings. Just never saw him listed that low before.

RE: Wes Miller
Honest question: Where the AD is on all of this? Hopefully he's helping out in every way possible within the rules. I am also not sure who Kyle Decker is exactly, but I'm very glad to have him on board from what I can tell from this and my next post. Looks like he's involved with several programs in the region.

RE: Wes Miller
Outstanding new piece in The Athletic on Wes. The title pretty much sums it up:
Why Wes Miller’s first 90 days at Cincinnati prove he’s an ideal fit
(subscription needed)
There's some great stuff from the assistants but I think I liked this part the best:
Quote:“Everybody in North Carolina thought there were two jobs Wes Miller couldn’t say no to — Wake Forest and UNC,” said Chris LePore, the new chief of staff for Cincinnati’s program...
...He turned down so much interest (from other schools) because we had it rolling at Greensboro, and he loved it there,” LePore said.
Once the Wake Forest and UNC openings came and went — Wake in 2020, UNC in April — LePore figured the speculation would quiet down for a bit.
“Those two jobs were finally behind us, so we can just work and not worry about all these rumors,” he said. “Then the Cincinnati thing happens, and I start hearing his name. And I started thinking about the (Bob) Huggins teams and those good (Mick) Cronin teams, and it was like, ‘Coach Miller is Cincinnati basketball. Way more than any other job that has come up and he’s been nominated for by the Twitter World or whatever. This one actually makes a lot of sense.’ I know it’s not right down the street, but he has those values this fan base loves. We press, we play tough and nasty basketball — that’s Wes Miller basketball. I realized if he could get involved in this one, it was a no-brainer. I didn’t even know he would be the guy, but it made a lot of sense.”
