Return almost everyone and will be better this season. I think 7-5 (5-3). 9-3(6-2) if Garcia starts at QB over Ahlers.

As a fellow ECU fan, I don't agree with this at all. Throw out the anomaly that was 2020 for a moment. We could be a MUCH MUCH better team than 2019 and still finish with 4 wins.

Compare the full schedules of 2019 with 2021. We're swapping Gardner-Webb(FCS), NC State(ACC), William & Mary(FCS), and ODU(1-win CUSA) for...

Charleston Southern (FCS), App State (Sun Belt but respectable), Marshall (we just poached 3 of their players), and South Carolina (SEC).

2-2 OOC

USF, Temple, Navy should be wins in year 3 with those programs where they are. Obviously Navy is a wild card, but still. Tulane at home, and Houston on the road I think are the other two wins.

Look at the depth chart from last season, a ton of Freshmen and Sophomores playing a ton of snaps.

Tulane was a home game last year, and we lost. Navy is back in Annapolis this year. 3-4 wins in conference, and 1-2 wins OOC is my guess. I just doubt we get the good end of both those estimates. If I had to go to Vegas today, my ceiling is 5 wins.

Please be sure to bookmark this and rub it in my face if we surprise everyone. I won't be mad about it.

Seems like you're operating under the assumption that ECU won't improve at all. ECU is returning 20+ starters and adding needed help with DJ Ford in the secondary. The O-Line is reportedly competent now. ECU was hurt by weak links on both lines last year which by all reports seem to have improved significantly.

4 wins is the floor with FCS, USF, Temple, and then you would think pick up a win somewhere else. South Carolina is not good, all OOC games are winnable 2 wins does not seem unlikely at all to me. 6-6 seems most likley scenario to me. The defense should be good enough to keep ECU in the game with most teams on the schedule this year.

Wins
FCS
USF
Temple

Toss Up
App
Marshall
USCe
Tulane
Houston
Navy

Losses
UC
Memphis
UCF

Even winning 2 of those toss-ups puts ECU at 5-7, I don't think thats the ceiling at all if progress is actually being made.

That's the opposite of what I said. I said we could be much better, but not have any more wins because the schedule is tougher. Already mentioned the OOC schedule changes.

For example, one of your guaranteed wins, Temple, has never lost to us in conference without the help of a global pandemic. We haven't beaten SC in over 20 years, and we've played some of their bad teams.

My guess would be that we beat FCS, 1 of USF/Temple, and 2-3 of those toss-ups. 4-5 wins. Just my sh***y prediction after watching our football for the last 5 years.

RE: ESPN FPI Rankings are out (for AAC and all teams)
We will learn a lot out of the gate with the AppState game.

Coaching changes at South Carolina and Marshall should help give us an edge in those games, as our players all know our system by now.

I think under normal conditions, we’d be really good this season. But with so many players staying an extra year, we will still be considered young. I don’t disagree with the “we could be a lot better but not win more games” take.

I don’t agree that the schedule is any tougher than last year in conference. Temple was hot garbage last season pandemic or not, they’re in Scotty Mo land. Barring injuries, any less than 5 wins and Houston has 1 more year to get it right for me. Last year if we play the FCS game we have 4 wins just from the conference games plus that. 5 wins is either winning one of the ooc games or winning one more conference game against a schedule that the only change is Memphis for SMU. If we are “much better” we do that at a minimum.

Hopes and prayers are 9-3! Nothing would make me happier than my fellow Owls mocking my preseason myopic picks after the season because I was wrong.

That’ll be a fun ball game in Charlotte. Hell I’m flying in from the west coast for it. Assuming Covid has eased up.

There will be a lot of Carolina boys on both sides of the ball that were recruited by the other side. Should be an exciting evening.

That’ll be a fun ball game in Charlotte. Hell I’m flying in from the west coast for it. Assuming Covid has eased up.

There will be a lot of Carolina boys on both sides of the ball that were recruited by the other side. Should be an exciting evening.

That game is listed as a home game at Dowdy Ficklen Stadium - not in Charlotte. Has something changed. I intend to drive down to the game. Would hate to find an empty stadium that day. 04-jawdrop 03-pissed 07-coffee3

Talking about the South Carolina Game - not the Appalachian State game. Your info confirms the South Carolina game in Greenville. Thanks anyway for your help. 01-ncaabbs 04-rock 03-cloud9 04-cheers

He posted that because you responded to a thread discussing the App State game. Although, I will now be buying a T-shirt that says "South Carolina at ECU 2021 - THAT GAME"

Shocked! Bama is listed as #1

Also notes percentage prediction on winning your division, conf, making the playoff, making the NC Game and then winning it.

Pure rubbish.

It’s laughable actually.

On the other hand, it doesn't hurt to be underestimated, and it's sweet when you upset a team that's judged to be superior. Flying under the radar has its advantages.
