Kempton Update
The word from Kempton Shine's family in the football parents' Facebook group is that he is okay, was discharged from the hospital, and did not suffer any serious injury. Thank you, Lord!

Great to hear he is well. Thanks for sharing! What happened to him? I heard the wemu announcers giving updates. But never said what happened…

I haven't heard any details regarding the nature of his injury. In rewatching the play a couple of times, it looks like the receiver Shine was attempting to tackle brought his arm across his body as he was being twisted, resulting in him "elbowing" Shine's helmet and causing some kind of a neck injury. Since Shine appears to be okay now, perhaps it was just a really nasty stinger. But this is all speculation on my part.

Great to hear! Now that we know he is going to be physically fine and no serious injury hopefully the young man is able to continue on with his playing career. That was one of the more scary moments I can remember from a game.

Thanks. I saw the play live on television and it seems a rather benign football play.

Doesn't a stinger produce localize pain to just one extremity? Usually the arm nearest where the injury occurred?
