I love the idea of bringing Shumate off the bench think he would thrive in a sixth man role

I think the 6-11 kid will get some minutes... Also will be hard to redshirt either EJ Farmer or Elijah Wilson if they are as good as advertised...

Coach K usually plays 8 guys. I think there will be at least 9 in the rotation. Playing 11 or 12 would be totally out of character for the coach. However, it would be great if the team really is that deep.

I hope we are good enough to go 9 deep. It certainly would help us be fresher at tournament time and give us more legitimate options as well.

Saunders better step up his consistency if he wants that role or Wilson or Farmer may take minutes. This recruiting class may not have an immediate impact player over 6'7", but could be as good or better than last years that produced Milner, Rollins, Hill and Shumate. And Moss is a player, athletic and powerful, if he's eligible he will provide rebounding and defense and scoring when needed or garbage points. This roster has a chance to be very talented. Leadership and chemistry will be a determinant into how good they are.

well said..... Moss is a big "question mark". If this class exceeds last year's class of 4 solid players then we're in very good shape. I think Dennis has a chance to be a very good PG at Toledo.
Go Rockets!

Moss was a leader this past season even though he didn't dress, talented guy w a middle linebacker mentality and build. he'll play. wilson has a lot of game at 6-5.

Last years class was very good, if this class comes even a bit close Toledo can be very scary, I’m expecting rollins and Milner to make huge leaps this year

Blade: “We’re adding another really good playmaker who can make plays for his teammates and himself,” Kowalczyk said. “Ryan Rollins really helped take pressure off of Marreon [Jackson] last year, and I think RayJ will really take pressure off of Ryan this year.”

Magically healed? I thought it was posted he almost played at the end of the season. He will be healed can he stay healthy. I would be he will but I am not Carnak I don't see the future.

Have the rules changed? I'm surprised TK is making any comments at this point. I thought coaches weren't allowed to make public comments until the LOIs were signed. Maybe it's different with transfers?!?!

RE: New Basketball Commit
yeah, i think that only applies to regular recruits. that said, nobody really cares about ncaa rules anymore. the association is losing standing and credibility. hard to believe they will sanction coaches for making a comment on a 20 year old verbal recruit when they barely sanction schools and coaches caught funnelling tens of thousands to 17 year old recruits through corporate and aau fixers. between the gender inequities of the championships and the NIL issues the ncaa isn't really trying to attract much attention these days.
regardless, that's the plan. pair rollins with another versatile guard that can flex between scoring and facilitating roles and allow rian to gradually grow into a pg (his position at the next level) instead of forcing it on him before he's fully ready.

RE: New Basketball Commit
OFFICIAL RELEASE:
TOLEDO, Ohio – Men's basketball head coach Tod Kowalczyk announced Tuesday that Boise State sophomore guard RayJ Dennis will transfer to the University of Toledo to join the Rockets' program next season.
"We're extremely excited to have RayJ join our family," Kowalczyk said. "We recruited RayJ extremely hard three years ago and when he went into the transfer portal, he quickly became our No. 1 priority. He can impact our program immediately in a lot of ways. He plays with toughness on the defensive end, he has proven he can run a winning basketball team and he can score at a high level."
A 6-2, 180-pound guard, Dennis started 25 of 28 contests and averaged 8.6 ppg, 3.0 rpg, a team-best 2.9 apg and 1.2 spg in 27.2 mpg this past season for a Boise State squad that posted a 19-9 overall record and a 14-6 Mountain West Conference mark. The Oswego, Ill. native, tied his career high with 19 points at NCAA Tournament participant BYU (Dec. 9) and also led the Broncos with 18 points in their season opener at NCAA Final Four squad Houston (Nov. 27).
As a freshman, Dennis started 15 of 32 games and averaged 4.1 ppg, 1.8 rpg and 1.8 apg in 17.5 mpg. He led the Broncos to a historic comeback overtime victory over Utah State (Jan. 18) when he scored all of his career-high 19 points in the final 3:27 with BSU trailing by 18 points.

I am scratching my head why with those stats he would transfer out BSU with the exception of being closer to home.

Against Memphis in the final game of the year, Dennis struggled to get the ball across half court and finished with three turnovers and two points in 16 minutes.

Geesh Coach, you don't say things like that out loud to reporters.

He lost his starting PG spot to another guy who transferred in.

I can't believe our head coach actually said that.

Does TK's response to RayJ's transfer foretell anything about Moss' future here? I am still with those who are worried about the big guy being underwhelming. His responses to what he needed to work on was a long list and some very basic skills for a big. Competition appeared to be questionable from the videos.

I just don’t see this roster winning a MAC tournament championship next season. We have some gaps that will be exploited over a 3- game stretch if we make it that far. I just keep having visions of Richmond’s bench players owning the key...and while Edu back will certainly help, his style of play on defense could make him prone to foul trouble, especially if his lateral mobility suffers from the previous injuries. I’d feel a hell of a lot better if we had landed a true PF transfer with some D1 experience, but we go to battle with who we have.
