UCF Spring Game Social Media Tweet hits 7 Million Impressions
Yesterday, it was near 6.2 Million and this AM, the below tweet has now hit 7 Million. (Yes, Collins when he was at Temple did something similar...but that UCF name just attracts attention...as haters love to pounce but many in the "industry" loved the idea).

PS. For those that don't know...State of Florida has passed a Name, Image and Likeness Bill that will go in effect on July 1, 2021. (Of course its still not approved fully by the NCAA...but FL is ready for their athletes to recoup some $$ the minute that thing goes LIVE).

Even Pete Thamel liked Gus's reasons WHY he did it at UCF: (Thamel can't even stand UCF but he enjoyed Gus taking a "dig" at all of those OLD schools)

Similar? No offense to UCF, but I was a bit bothered that they got so much credit and attention for something that we did several years before.

We are the villain of college football. By the reaction you would have thought Knightro murdered Rudy.

Oh the traditions UCF tramples as their players attempt to grow their following on Twitter.

I don't believe we ever stuck with it after Collins left. Anyhow, 7 million impressions is probably way more than Temple got. Good for UCF. We need to get there.

It's a "UCF" thing...as so many media folks (and fans), especially in SEC Country...jump on almost anything coming out of UCF...which is why this move, same as Temple did years ago...got so much attention.

Also...having Gus give a pretty funny response as to why also help....who of course...just came from a SEC School.

It also carried a bit more weight since NIL has been approved in FL...which wasn't the case when Collins did it at Temple.

This was just a shout-out to potential recruits that UCF will do whatever it can to help their "brand" grow.

Top recruits at the game, including this QB from GA who already committed to UCF, had tweets ready to go like this:

Also...a 6'4" WR from GA was also there and tweeted this:

It is mostly the timing of it. The NIL and the Supreme Court case are bringing player monetization to the forefront. Doing it with the intention of drawing attention to players monetizing their social media is what is hitting home.

This reminds me of when schools IMMEDIATELY had to put their hashtag on the sideline of the field.

It's trending but i don't think this is going to be the new norm.

One thing of note:

Florida's NIL Law begins on July 1, 2021.

Alabama also approved NIL....but their law doesn't begin till 2023.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the Feb 2022 Class to see if any recruits are selecting school based on NIL and whats allowed in said state.

FSU released a slick NIL for the state's launch on July 1st yesterday.
