I've seen the statistics for blacks versus browns versus whites killed by law enforcement officers. The one conclusion that leaps off the page is that you are extremely unlikely to be killed by an LEO regardless of race.

What I would like to see is statistics broken down by citizen cooperates versus citizen resists.

It looks like the officer attempting to get the handcuffs on was unable to do so because the guy was resisting arrest, so the other officers stepped in.

Did they handle it correctly? Obviously not.

But once again it comes down to - if you resist the chances of something like this happening go way up. If he had let the first officer put the handcuffs on then most likely this would not have happened.

Yeah, luckily I live in one of the free states where masks and lockdowns are no longer required. I didn't even know people were still getting sick.

Here's the other thing...if the cop simply used deadly force in the first place, would it have been justified?

The suspect, in the process of being cuffed, (on a weapons charge) breaks loose and gets back into his car.

The officer hasn't secured the safety of the car, so it's not known if the suspect can access a gun in the car.

Must the officer wait until the suspect produces a gun in order to shoot? Does the cop just have to let the suspect drive off?

It's similar to the Nashville shooting where the suspect didn't have a gun until she did have a gun and got the drop on the cop.

Friendly fire and cops screwing up are the exception rather than the rule. Pretty sure most would like the opportunity to defend themselves rather than wait for help to arrive because most likely the help will arrive too late. People thwart attacks quite often.

You're right... they do expect people to comply with authority whether civil or private. Business can't open during pandemic by government edict. Companies may not welcome customers who haven't been vaccinated. And private citizens have taken up the cause to harass people who refuse to wear masks.

So why isn't compliance with police expected? Why doesn't the government expect compliance during a traffic stop? Why don't companies refuse to serve people with outstanding warrants? Why don't private citizens take up the cause to harass people who refuse to comply during traffic stops?
