RE: Heiress will be your President
Quote:On Sunday, Vice President Kamala Harris on CNN’s “State of the Union” called on lawmakers to pass an “assault weapons ban.”
Anchor Dana Bash said, “More broadly, there have been at least 50 mass shootings in America in a little over a month. Your administration has made clear that infrastructure is the next big legislative priority. Why not guns? Anthony Fauci told me over the weekend that gun violence is a public health emergency.”
Harris said, “Well, I would disagree. We actually, as an administration, have taken action. The president issued executive orders, for example, on ghost guns, and there is only so much, however, that a president can do through executive action. This president, Joe Biden, has a long-standing history of speaking very clearly and unambiguously about the need for smart gun safety laws, back from the time that he was in the Senate through today. But I guess that emphasizes the point that both he when he was in the Senate when I was in the Senate, same thing, we were pushing for legislation. Congress has to act. Because we have to codify, that’s a fancy word for make permanent, make the law, that we agree.”
She added, “We should have background checks. That’s just reasonable gun safety laws. We should have an assault weapons ban. Assault weapons have been designed to kill a lot of people quickly. They are weapons of war, and Congress has to account, Dana. I mean, you know, I was recently in Connecticut. Senators Murphy and Blumenthal and the governor there, so many people, the families of Sandy Hook. You know, I honestly thought that when those babies, 26 seven-year-old children, were slaughtered, I thought Congress would act. I thought that would be the thing, and it didn’t happen.”
Bash said, “But do you think it can happen?”
Harris said, “It has to happen.”
Bash said, “My question was about your priority as an administration.”
Harris said, “It is part of our priority. We have to multitask. Not one to the exclusion of the other.”

Quote:Vice President Kamala Harris said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that the ongoing surge of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border was “not going to be solved overnight.”
Harris said, “I come at this issue from the perspective that most people don’t want to leave home. They don’t want to leave the grandparents. They don’t want to leave the place where they grew up, when, you know, where they speak the language, where they know the culture, the place that is home. Most people don’t want to leave home, and when they do, it’s usually for one of two reasons. They’re fleeing some harm, or they cannot stay and satisfy the basic necessities of life, such as feeding their children and having a roof over their head. That is a big part of what is going on. So I look at the issue of what’s going on in the Northern Triangle from that perspective. Then my take on it is that we’ve got to understanding that, we have to give people some sense of hope that if they stay that help is on the way.”
She continued, “The kind of work that has to happen is the diplomatic work that we have been engaged in, including my calls to the president of Mexico, the president of Guatemala, and we have a plan to actually have another meeting coming up soon.”
Anchor Dana Bash said, “Are you going to go there?”
Harris said, “Yes, we’re working on the plan to get there. We have to deal with COVID issues, but I can’t get there soon enough in terms of personally getting there.”
She added, “This is the work that we’re doing, but it’s not going to be solved overnight. It’s a complex issue. If this were easy, it would have been handled years ago.”

Quote:Kamala Harris still hasn’t gone to the southern border and she hasn’t done one thing that we can see to stop the influx of illegal aliens. She also hasn’t held a press conference or answered any questions about what she’s actually doing to stem the tide.
She’s made trips to other places on other issues, including to New Hampshire and our northern border to talk about infrastructure. She was roundly mocked by Republicans, who pointed out she was at the wrong border.
As I reported yesterday, while Harris hasn’t made it to the border, her book has made it in the “welcome kits” given to unaccompanied minors at a shelter housing the children. The White House is claiming that they don’t know how the books got there.
Now it’s been announced that she’s going to have a virtual meeting with the president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, on May 7 to talk about an idea he has. He wants the U.S. to fund the extension of a tree-planting program to Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. He’s proposing that would give people jobs, six-month temporary work visas, and eventual U.S. citizenship while they plant trees in those countries.
So, let’s see if I have it straight. Instead of actually protecting our border and enforcing our own laws, with a plan that was already working under President Donald Trump, we’re talking about paying out more money for people in Central America to have jobs there, to benefit those areas. Plus, if they have those jobs they can eventually become American citizens. And we get what out of that? And what is that doing to stop the massive influx that’s happening now, you know, the present crisis? There were 172,000 illegal aliens caught in March alone. As we reported, they’re just letting the unaccompanied minor children in, with record numbers of them coming last month as well.
This is the magical thinking of the Democrats. This is Kamala’s first effort to stop the crisis? It’s not even her idea.
Meanwhile, what exactly is Joe Biden doing? You know, the guy who is supposed to have the job of talking to world leaders?
They will likely agree to this, so they can claim they’re doing “something” and Kamala Harris can argue that she’s addressing the “root causes,” as the patient is hemorrhaging out of a major artery.
What’s funny, though, is what the critics are saying about the tree program as it’s now operating in Mexico.
As the Daily Mail explains, some don’t think it’s working. Environmentalists are mad because they’re claiming this is planting commercial species across native lands. Turns out that some farmers are tearing down their own trees so that they can then qualify for the government program, which sort of seems to defeat the whole idea behind the program. Sounds like a typical Democratic program, so they’re sure to go for it.

Quote:Vice President and appointed “border czar,” Kamala Harris, told CNN Sunday that she “can’t get to Central America soon enough” and will meet with leaders there in an effort to solve the ongoing immigration crisis at the southern border.
Harris was put in charge of handling the border crisis more than three weeks ago and has yet to hold a press conference or address the issue publicly, instead assuring Americans she is working on the issue behind the scenes. Although the United States is reportedly holding more than 10,000 child migrants in detention facilities across the southwest, she has not visited those facilities or, reportedly, discussed the issue with border-state governors.
Both Arizona Governor Doug Ducey ® and Texas Governor Greg Abbott ® have invited Harris to tour both the border and the detention facilities, which they maintain are holding unaccompanied minors in unsafe, overcrowded conditions.
Instead, Harris told CNN she will head to Central America to get to the bottom of why thousands of residents of Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador are joining migrant caravans headed for the United States-Mexico border.
“Yes, we’re working on a plan to get there, we’re working through COVID issues,” Harris told CNN, referring to the so-called “Golden Triangle” of Central American countries. “I can’t get there soon enough.”
“Earlier this month, Harris said that she is planning a visit ‘soon’ to Guatemala with a stop in Mexico. Later her administration said the trip is being planned for June,” the Daily Mail noted.
Harris said that she would skip the situation at the border, despite being placed in charge of the migrant crisis, because “Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is in charge of addressing the crisis there,” per the Daily Mail
Harris claimed Sunday that any immigration policy needs to address the “root causes” of migration, rather than just border security.
“Most people don’t want to leave home, They don’t want to leave their grandparents. They don’t want to leave the place where they grew up,” Harris said. ‘We have to give people some sense of hope that if they stay, that help is on the way.”
She said she is working with other Biden administration officials to put together an assistance plan, though she did not clarify why the United States is responsible for sending “help” to Central America in the midst of an economic downturn.
A planned virtual meeting between Harris Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) on May 7th is likely to shed some light on the Biden administration’s plans to assist Central American countries financially. In that meeting, Harris and AMLO are expected to discuss a program that would pay Central American migrants to plant trees in Mexico to help that country address climate change, according to the New York Post.
“President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador will discuss a plan to offer citizenship as part of a tree-planting proposal he wants the US to help finance when he meets with Vice President Kamala Harris next month,” the Post said, quoting an unnamed Mexican official “The Mexican leader pitched the initiative, Planting Life, during President Biden’s virtual climate summit at the White House on Thursday and said it could help stem the surge of immigrants to the US border.”
