Yeah...no, this is fake news. Never happened.

The only thing that happened was the governor's husband allegedly asking a marina if they could get their dock put in the water.

https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/p...254889002/

The issue was her husband was asking for their boat to be launched for the season, ahead of the other clients the marina had. He even asked if him being the husband of the governor would help them move up the list.

Remember, until late April, she banned motorized boating. Apparently the vid was transmittable in a power boat, but not a canoe, because non-motorized was ok.

Right...get all that as we've discussed this already months ago. The governor said he was only joking. Regardless, neither the governor nor her spouse violated the restrictions and vacationed or boated up north during the lockdown. It's fake news.

The issue is her husband trying to use clout to get the familyspecial treatment.

I don't believe he was only joking. Most reasonable people wouldn't think so either. You don't mention that in a joking manner.

Stay home. Locked in. Under the bed. Mebbe try to get the boat on the water after you saw through the ice cap.

Thx.

Not just because of Covid. We don’t want them down here period. The south is overcrowded as is. Well be glad to send out liberals up there though.

They like it down here under mostly Red policies...it is their dirty little secret.

If they did why do the Californians want to turn Texas into the next communist sh*thole, and why do all the northeasterners flock to Florida, then b*tch that "it's not like home" and try to implement the same policies they ran from? Just look at the snowbirds that flocked to south Florida and won't go home.

She has 2 lake homes about 5 minutes from me...there was an idiotic, subsequently deemed illegal restriction at one point that sought to preclude people from traveling to their second homes up north and she miraculously pulled that one the day before her daughter’s graduation party was held up here on the lake. Lol. There are about a dozen of these snafus. The idiots down south in Detroit gobble it up like carp. She’s a dumpster fire.

RE: Whitmer's Top Aide Gets Caught Red-Handed in Florida
Quote:Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s (D) health director, Elizabeth Hertel, was the second senior administration official to travel out of state for spring break last week.

Hertel (pictured), who heads the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), traveled with her family to Gulf Shores, Alabama, but according to MIRS News, she “was regularly updated on Michigan’s growing COVID-19 case numbers and was available to issue any new public health orders, if necessary.”

MIRS said Hertel would have legally been able to issue orders while not in the state, apparently even from the beach on the Gulf of Mexico.

MDHHS spokesman Bob Wheaton told the publication “the department does not discuss the Director’s personal schedule.”

On April 2, just days before spring break for many students, Whitmer told the media, “Here’s what I know: The Number 1 state with the most variants is Florida and the Number 2 state is Michigan right now.”

She acknowledged there is “a lot of travel back and forth between the states” at this time of year.

“Yes, I am concerned, and I think it’s a concern no matter what,” she said of travel between states.

Whitmer’s office refused to tell Breitbart News if the governor was proud of her top appointees ignoring her recommendation for Michigan residents not to travel for spring break, nor whether the actions by Hertel and Tricia Foster, Whitmer’s Chief Operating Officer, should be interpreted by Michiganders as a signal that Whitmer’s suggestions should not be taken seriously.

Foster was caught by Breitbart News last Friday after the COO posted photos and comments on her Facebook page about her travels to warmer environs.

RE: Whitmer's Top Aide Gets Caught Red-Handed in Florida, another in Florida
Quote:Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) shrugged off a question Wednesday about the news that at least two of her senior advisers traveled out of state for spring break, despite her urging residents not to.

During a press conference in which she urged the use of coronavirus therapeutics that have been deployed for months, Whitmer was asked if there were “two sets of rules in play,” one for those in charge, and another for average residents.

“I’m not gonna get distracted by partisan hit jobs on my team,” she said, referring to reports by both MIRS News and Breitbart News that state Chief Operations Officer Tricia Foster vacationed in Florida while Department of Health and Human Services Director Elizabeth Hertel took a beach trip to Alabama.

Whitmer attempted to downplay allegations of hypocrisy by falsely claiming, “there have never been travel restrictions in Michigan.”

“What we have done is ask people to be smart, to get vaccinated, to mask up — that is the key to traveling with confidence that you’re going to be safe and not expose yourself or your loved ones to (coronavirus) or your community to (coronavirus),” she said.

“What directors do on their personal time is their business, so long as they are safe,” Whitmer claimed.

She did not address the fact that the teenagers traveling with Foster were not yet eligible for a vaccine by the time the trip took place.

Whitmer said she is asking “everyone in the state” to “get vaccinated, mask up,” before indicating additional freedom is contingent on compliance.

“If we all want the freedom to do these things that we’re longing to do, that is the key to doing it with confidence that we’re gonna be safe and we’re not gonna expose anyone else to (the coronavirus),” she said.

Quote:Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) attempted to downplay Wednesday revelations that two of her top aides traveled out of the state for spring break last week.

When asked about the apparent hypocrisy after she urged Michiganders not to travel to Florida or other warm environs before state Chief Operations Officer Tricia Foster and Department of Health and Human Services Director Elizabeth Hertel did so, she said, “There have never been travel restrictions in Michigan. There just haven’t been.”

That claim ran counter to a government emergency broadcast bulletin from March 2020, as well as Whitmer’s own words from last April, as documented by Michigan Rising Action:

“Non-essential travel is prohibited,” one “civil emergency message” said that was ordered by Whitmer herself. The executive order — later deemed unconstitutional by the Michigan Supreme Court — was titled, “Stay Home Stay Safe.”

On April 15, 2020, she acknowledged in a cable news interview she was “cracking down on people traveling between homes,” referring to second homes in the northern part of the state.

That statement came days after she had extended the “Stay Home Stay Safe” order.

On April 9, 2020, Mlive reported:

Those who have multiple homes in Michigan will no longer be allowed to travel freely between those properties as part of the latest stay-at-home order.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer Thursday extended the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order through April 30, which in part restricts travel for non-essential reasons throughout the state.

That extension now includes more language about traveling between multiple homes in Michigan.

The travel ban took effect April 10, 2020.

“After that date, travel between two residences is not permitted,” Whitmer’s order said.

Mlive noted Michiganders were “subject to fines and penalties” if they were caught traveling between homes.

Kamala is only joking when she is laughing while discussing anything even remotely serious with the press - why can't the First Man of Michigan throw some humor around.

#rentfree.

But yeah...in a normal year, thousands of Michiganders travel south. The times we went, nearly every car you see going north through Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio coming back home have Michigan plates.

RE: Whitmer's Top Aide Gets Caught Red-Handed in Florida, another in Alabama
Quote:Michigan Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer traveled to Florida last month for a “personal trip” only to later express “concern” about people traveling there for spring break.

“Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s spokesperson confirmed today that the Governor took a ‘personal trip’ out of state about one month ago to visit her father,” Michigan Information & Research Service (MIRS) reported. “While Communications Director Tiffany Brown wouldn’t say where the Democratic governor traveled, a source tells MIRS that Whitmer’s father, Richard Whitmer, has a home in Florida.”

However, Brown did seem to confirm that Whitmer was visiting her father in Florida, saying that he was battling an illness.

“Her dad was fully vaccinated, and the governor is tested regularly and has never tested positive for COVID,” Brown told MIRS, claiming that no taxpayer resources were used.

“Gretchen Whitmer’s blatant display of hypocrisy is an insult to every single Michigander impacted by her lockdown orders and travel warnings,” Ted Goodman, Communications Director of the Michigan Republican Party, told The Daily Wire. “Not only did Whitmer and her top staffers vacation to Florida, but they tried to keep it a secret because for Whitmer, it’s—rules for thee, but not for me.”

The governor’s office later released a more detailed statement saying that they would not comment on her personal schedule:

The governor did not go on spring break, and she has not left the state in over a month. In the past six months she has left the state three times, once for the inauguration, once to assist her elderly father who is battling a chronic illness, and once to visit with Michigan’s National Guard troops. All trips were very brief, two full days or less, closely followed public health guidelines, and were made when Michigan’s daily positivity rate was in the low single digits. Due to ongoing security concerns, we will not comment further on the governor’s personal schedule.

“Gretchen Whitmer’s hypocrisy flies in the face of every Michigander who has persevered through Whitmer’s disgraceful response to COVID-19,” Chris Gustafson, a spokesperson at the Republican Governors Association, said. “While telling Michiganders not to travel, Whitmer flew down to Florida and proved once again that the rules to her or her family don’t apply. It’s time for Gretchen Whitmer to go.”

“So she can ask Michiganders to make sacrifices she doesn’t intend to make herself?” RGA Communications Director Jesse Hunt said in a statement to The Daily Wire. “She flouted her own guidance because the rules never apply to her.”

In early April, Whitmer expressed concern about people traveling to Florida for spring break because of a variant of the coronavirus that has been spreading there. Whitmer’s comments were made before two of her staffers were then caught going on personal trips outside the state, including one that went to Florida.

Fox News reported:

Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Director Elizabeth Hertel was in Gulf Shores, Alabama, according to the Michigan Information & Research Service. Gulf Shores is a popular resort destination along the Gulf of Mexico. …

Tricia Foster, the governor’s chief operating officer, made headlines earlier in April for vacationing in Florida even though Whitmer said she was “concerned” about travel between states. Foster posted photos to Facebook of herself vacationing in Siesta Key. After Breitbart first reported on the trip, Foster deleted the post.

On Sunday, Whitmer suggested that Florida was part of the reason that coronavirus cases have exploded in her state, saying, “this is the time in the year that snowbirds come home from Florida, where people are going on spring break, and all of these things can contribute to spread”

Michigan is currently “in the midst of an alarming surge that is far worse than what any other state is experiencing,” The New York Times reported last week. “The state accounts for more than 10 percent of the country’s daily cases, and is home to 16 of the 17 metro areas with the nation’s worst recent case rates.”
