John Cunningham evaluation?
I cannot think of any positives. Has an opportunity to create one with new BB hire.

Negative - handling of Brannen situation.

Negative - Spring game not giving priority to season ticket holders.

Negative- Video presentations seemed like a deer in headlights.

Negative- May not be working well with CLF.

Honestly it's way too early to know on Cunningham.

Getting Brannen and his crew out of here is a huge positive. Program saving decision. Still need to find a good coach but the first part of the equation is done.

Did he really keep Luke or was it mostly the bad situation at MSU?

Extending Luke I accept was good.

Nearly This entire board was saying luke was gone and he's still here. I don't know how much was Cunningham but it is still a win for me.

We'll see who he hires.

If he hires the next Bob Huggins he'll be the greatest AD in history.

I don't recall Luke saying anything about staying because of Cunningham. His players, yeah. His family, yeah. Community excitement? yep. Concerns about MSU culture - reportedly. Cunningham? Nada. Maybe I missed it. Even if he did, his comments about this being a BS situation handled in a BS manner speak volumes to me about the current status.

I agree that sending Brannen on his way is a good thing.

BUT............

Who is responsible for overseeing head coaches and insuring that programs aren’t allowed to be run into the ground?

Cunningham is not entirely blameless for the fiasco that we have witnessed over the last two years.

He's provided next to zero transparency so far, but eventually I think the fans will demand answers especially when we see the final price tag on his handling of this. And Cunningham deserves to tell his version. I don't know how good things will look for Brannen when it all comes out, but I've got a high degree of confidence it won't look good for Cunningham.

I'd wondered what became of Mick Mars since Motley Crue broke up.

Brannen is going to get so much money out of UC before this is all done.

RE: John Cunningham evaluation?
I'm still willing to give him the benefit of doubt since not a lot is known (as with Brannen), but it's looking more like amateur hour on Cunningham's part. I hope it doesn't have a lasting effect on UC athletics.

Saw that earlier. They're really grasping if they are using that as an example of not honoring his contract.

Either there is or isn't cause for the firing. Cause doesn't have to be ncaa violations. I think both sides have incentive to eventually settle but I guess we'll see.

What if they are using it as evidence of an f'd up Athletic Department giving conflicting messages to its employees (even the ones they refuse to talk to for the month prior to termination) led by an AD who is supposed to specialize in the Administrative aspect of the job?

Maybe it's a well kept secret but I've never heard of a major basketball program where the HC reports to an accountant designated the CFO for Athletics. How 'bout you?

Anybody know who Luke actually reports to?

If it were accurate that Brannen was told to report to this CFO guy from the beginning, that would have been done by Bohn, not Cunningham.

I think it's probably a bad idea to believe everything that Brannen's camp is putting out there . . .

As a retired CFO I find it bizarre. In companies where I was CFO the IT reported to me but that was reasonable as besides being a CPA I was also a CSP (Certified Systems Professional) and could code in 6 languages. Now if Sales or Marketing or Engineering or Manufacturing was to report to me that would make no sense just like Brannen reporting to The AD CFO made no sense.

Any candidate hearing that will think WTF!

RE: John Cunningham evaluation?
I think Cunningham is going to come out of this looking just fine. Pinto obviously thinks so and he has a lot more information than we do. The BoT was certainly involved in this as well. A lot of people who know what they are doing determined that Brannen can and should be fired with cause.

UC admin has been quiet, they've said as little as possible. They were investigating him well before the season ended, there has been plenty of time for them. They never tried to dirty the waters. To me this indicates they found something that justifies a for cause firing.

Brannen has been trying his best to muddy the waters. Frivolous lawsuits, Tom Mars on twitter, Brannen's wife on twitter, the Luke text release. I feel like Brannen knows UC has something on him and is trying to make this as ugly as possible in order for UC to give him a significant chunk of go away money. At some point Brannen decided he no longer cares about UC and is going to do his best to burn it down on his way out.

RE: John Cunningham evaluation?
That’s really weird. The whole thing is really weird. I think Cunningham was in a tough spot and I don’t think he handled it particularly well. Seems Pinto has come out in support so it looks like we are stuck with him for the time being.

I feel like I am stuck on a Giga Coaster halfway through the loopety loop and I really need to puke but there’s no way to get off this ride...
