The Transfer Portal has forever changed College basketball! WTH did we do????????????????????????????????????!?????????????????
I agree that college basketball will never be the same. The one-time no sit-out transfer rule has not even passed, but I guess everyone just assumes it will.

RE: Likely no going back
It seems like the graduate transfer rule was the start of this, but this was always a farce-
Graduate transfers are players who have graduated from their school, but still have one year (sometimes two years) of eligibility remaining. The so-called “graduate transfer” rule was intended to assist academically high-achieving students in pursuing a degree of interest not offered at their undergraduate college. These players can transfer without sitting out a season, as long as their desired graduate program is not offered at their previous school.
I'd honestly like to know if the last line of this rule was ever enforced. I'd like to see a list of the "academically high-achieving" students who took advantage of this rule. On paper the rule had a very legitimate and praise-worthy purpose. But, really it was a way for high majors to pluck star players away from the midmajors that developed them.

RE: Likely no going back
Dickie V chimes in-
Dick Vitale
@DickieV
This transferring all over the place is going to destroy our great game.The
@NCAA should think twice before officially making it that players can transfer w/o sitting 1 yr. The CHAOS going on is SICKENING! Only should allow players to transfer w/o sitting when a coach leaves.
Any chance the NCAA will listen to folks like Dickie V? I sure hope so. Maybe this will calm down in a year or 2. But if the Transfer Portal hits 1400 every year, it will destroy the game as we know it. We may just have to grin and bear it, but maybe the NCAA will rethink this. However, if a player challenged the current "sit-out" rule, in court, they would probably win.
