MyBB Hiring the next hoops coach
Bring it on! There will not be a shortage of interested coaches. Chad Brendel releases a preliminary list...

Archie Miller
Bryce Drew
Dennis Gates
Jeff Boals
Matt McMahan
Darren Savino
Erik Martin
Ryan Pedon
Kimani Young
Jon Scheyer

Chad's List

I still would like UNCG's Wes Miller to get an interview if he's interested.

RE: Hiring the next hoops coach
I'd see if Mark pope has any interest.

Bryce Drew is high on my list.

Archie I'm not as high on but I'd be good with him.

Scott Nagy, was Miller, Casey Alexander are all interesting

And I'll again throw Dave Smart's name out there because I think that guy can coach.

Of those listed, Bryce Drew is the most interesting at first glance.

I think Jon Scheyer is waiting for Coach K to call it a career.

Chris Jans? He's done great at NMSU and previously worked in OH. Or is he considered damaged goods?

His name was discussed for the Tech Texas opening.

Hey gents, is this something we can all agree on? I know there is criticism for how long this process took and how the AD handled the matter but...if the right coach is hired in a timely manner then the AD should be redeemed and highly regarded. This is his chance to put his stamp on things and earn that paycheck in the eyes of Bearcat Nation.

I would sincerely hope that--knowing what they knew and what the inevitable decision would be--they were already getting started on the search quietly in the background or at least doing all the background work so as to hit the ground running hard today.

Has a retread ever had success? I can't think of a guy who failed at a high major and then had success at another major school. (guys like Huggins and Bruce Pearl and Bobby Knight didn't fail on the court, so they don't count).

Archie Miller and Bryce Drew seem a lot like Dave Leitao and Tubby Smith.

(Tubby wasn't a horrible coach, but after leaving UK he only made the NCAA 4 times and never made the Sweet 16 in 11 years at Minnesota, Texas Tech, and Memphis).

I’d have been fine with Drew 2 years ago...now too.

He didn't fail on the court at IU; it was NCAA stuff that got him

Yeah, I'm a bit skeptical of someone that didn't produce results at a place like Indiana. I mean, AM didn't even make the NCAA tourney and finished with a 67-58 record.

Why not. The clod we just fired had more connections to X than he did at UC.
