RE: Crazy ESPN way too early BB rankings
Just win the next game on the schedule...rankings and post-season tournaments take care of themselves when you win.

Boy, they love the Big10. I can't figure that one out. Duke? UK? This is nuts.

Cal isn't getting any top 5 recruits anymore, and they are crucial for one and done to work. In the last 6 years, he has only had #6 Fox in 2017 and #5 Boston in 2020. He still gets a ton from #10-30, but even at that level they aren't a sure thing. Some don't pan out, some leave after one good but not great season, and others take 2-3 years to pan out, or transfer.
Looking at our history, you can really see why you need at least one top 5 player to make a run if you go the one and done route. There is a massive drop off.
Top 5
Wiseman
Rose
Tyreke
Top 10
Adonis
Cisse
Top 10-20
Barton
Precious
Shawne Williams
DWash
Nichols
Joe Jackson
Imagine our entire team comprised of every player on the list except Wiseman, Rose and Tyreke as freshmen. That team might be Sweet 16 or Elite 8; which is great, but looking back on how they played as freshmen, it would really be a stretch to think they could win a title or even make the Final Four.
