What the hell does this mean: Operating out of a 3-4 base defense, UAB often employs two down-lineman to open games before adjusting to a roving rotating band of barbarians.
A roving rotating band of barbarians?

We often play without one of our true NT's in the game and the SDE's and NT tend to play both positions lining up in a different spot down to down to confuse the defense. So that's the Roving. We play a lot of defensive linemen and rotate them in and out to keep them fresh, so thats the rotating. Band of Barbarians is just a safe for print way to say that they are a bunch of BAMFs.
You really think the person who wrote that sentence put that kind of thought into this? I don't.

The legendary NFL defensive coach, retired a couple of years ago, would do this. There were plays where he had all 11 players standing. I loved watching it and I really don’t know how teams prepared for games against him.
