Stupid response

1) the threads didn't exist because while there may have been similar events, they were vastly less frequent.
2) everyone KNEW what was being done about it.. at least what was being TRIED to address it.

That is we tried to discourage people from self-separating. If they came here together, they were stopped (by troops or a barrier) and sent back (or held in Mexico). If they came separated, we held them, tried to identify their parents or family and sent them back (or held them in Mexico). You personally may not agree with what was done and it wasn't 100% effective.. but it certainly DECREASED (statistics prove) the number of events like these.

COntrast that with Biden's CHOICES to hold them (the entire family) on this side of the border and put them (unaccompanied minors) into an already over-burdened (and full of abuse and criminal activity) foster care system that doesn't have an especially clean record on 'good outcomes'. The entire line of thought here creates MORE of these issues.

SO the issue isn't that 'we need to fix things for this poor kid'. Its that the LIES we've been told about 'what Republican policies are doing, and Democrats will fix' are just that.. lies.

It's like hiring a new yard man because the 'sells' himself to you based on the idea that the old one only came once a week... and he's going to come twice a week... only to find that although he's coming twice a week, he's doing less work in those 2 visits.

The expectation wasn't about his company (how frequently he would visit), but about the work being done.

Ah, yes. The Sloe* plan in all it's glory. Toddlers stuffed in cars with no seat belts or car seats, find yourself a shirt that says "Staff" and take all the kids you can fit, Lord only knows where those kids were headed. 10YO's wandering alone in the desert amongst the rattlesnakes and real coyotes, 3 and 5 YO little girls being thrown over fences and left to die. Children, all of whom have astonishingly all lost their "loving parents" crammed, shoulder to shoulder, into cages some at as much as 4100% capacity, with tin foil sheets where covid rates are raging at well over 10% of those tested and no plan for isolation or quarantine.

The Sloe Biden* border.

Sad

I think the general population would very much be on board. It's the cartels, corrupt military, and dirty politicians that would be the problem

That's laughable. You're for military conquests (which it is) of our southern neighbors. Heck, why don't we start fixing our country first then perhaps when we know how to do THAT perhaps we can offer them statehood. I'll grant you something I'll bet their countries have a lot more to offer landwise than those wanting PR as a state.

As for this: " No individual currently in power or related to a person in power at a national level will be allowed to be either a representative as a US territory or run for office after the 25 year period." Here in our OWN country we have politicians that make those in those 3rd world countries look like saints...and I'm talking about Peloser, Schemer, Schiff, etc. etc. Let's start with them.

Look, I know you're outraged, so am I but your solutions will not come to fruition and is just wishful thinking.
Of course it's wishful thinking.

Where? In the US? I think we've had our fill of nation building after Iraq/Afghanistan. And lets be real, trying to take out the cartels and corrupt militaries will leave a power vacuum that would be filled by corporate backed leadership.

No, in the central and S. American countries. Those people flood into our country illegally, risking their lives to generally live in the shadows. Give them the opportunity to live in their own country without the corruption.

If they would choose to stay and work as hard there as some do when they get here, most of those countries could be cleaned up and on their way to full independence in under 20 years.

Just to be clear, in my wishful thinking idea this follows pretty much an all out war in most countries. It also means that the US would be seen as taking advantage of many of those countries. Venezuelan oil? All sold to the US at a fair, but not OPEC mandated price or quantity. Everything manufactured in China? Welcome to 'Made in Hondorus' or 'Made in Guatemala'. Columbian cocainne? Let's change that to another crop.

Would it be easy or even viewed as humanitarian? Probably not. But in 50 years our grandchildren would not be facing many of the issues we face today.

In theory I’m with you 200. In practicality I just don’t see how it’s done. Corrupt institutions from the ground grass root level up, and let’s be honest, the insatiable thirst for the blow and opioids in this country pay a LOT better than coffee or pineapples.

What I continue to find interesting is a place like Costa. Generally peaceful, civilized, advanced medicine, no real (need for) military in any great numbers. And how and why?

Settled by Quakers generations ago. Peacenik objectors and haven’t looked back

Maybe we need to send some of our Amish terrorists down to the triangle to sort things out?

Legalize/decriminalize them here, and treat them as medical rather than legal problems, and you take a lot of the money out of the equation.

Along with severe penalties for production. Forfeiture of lands, hard labor prison camps, etc.

Right now there are extremely small segments of the population in those countries making lots of money off the drug trade. Infrastructure and manufacturing in those countries would allow the majority of the population to see a real increase in wealth within a generation.

I'd also look at annexing or buying areas like Baja, and perhaps a buffer zone across the border. These are BIG lifts that we would be doing for Mexico and in addition to our own benefits, the above would help us fund them..... and allow a whole lot of Mexicans to REMAIN Mexicans, in a US state.

I'm so glad people are finally seeing what a horrible problem this immigration issue is.

It's time for immigration reform.

Idiot.

There is no “reform” possible until you can stop the unfettered flow of humans across the border illegally...........and the numbers of those wanting in will always exceed our capacity to practically incorporate them into society.

It’s like having a water leak in your basement and spending all your time mopping up the water, but never fixing the leak.........a fool’s task.

Glad you finally agree with DJT. Just don't think that 'reform' means giving a free pass and amnesty to all those that broke our laws.

Democrats have demonstrated time and time again they are not to be trusted on immigration. Their word is as worthless as JDTulane's.

You're just another piece of progressive commie trash wanting to take advantage of a humanitarian crisis and people who have suffered and risked far more in their lives than you could ever dream, or you're a useful idiot that doesn't understand the end result of that which you advocate for so strongly. Stop pretending like you care, you just see a means to an end for advancing a progressive socialist movement in the US and destroying the constitution.

The problem with the previous administration is that they didn't really do anything to stop the problem. They simply put their finger in the crack of a dam.

If the doctor sees a spot on your arm and tells you it's cancer, you don't just put a band aid on it and hope you don't die of cancer. You have to get to the root cause of the problem and treat it.

Wrong.

Instead of mopping the floor while the basement flooded, DJT did everything he could to turn off the water, with full on democrat and media resistance the entire time.

If one provides incentive to come then they will. When you promise to take care of people once they get here what is the logical conclusion? What Biden said he would do if elected is why the situation is what it is.

I agree with you. Biden is partly to blame for more people coming but the fact of the matter is that caravans of people came even when Trump was in office too.

Trump made it very clear that he didn't want them to come and yet we saw massive surges in immigration anyway.

Quid pro Joe put down the mop and opened the tap.

If the problem was solved, then we wouldnt have the crisis we have now.

Biden just ripped the band aid off.

Caravans came and were halted. Meanwhile democrats wailed about the mistreatment, established sanctuary cities, and did everything they could to undermine any efforts to stem the flow or send illegals back. Democrats own this.

It's time for immigration reform.

Maybe so but putting a finger in the crack and slowing/stopping the flow for the duration of his term is better than bite'em method of using a sledge hammer to fix it.

You're a worthless piece of humanity (communist) by your thinking. I hope some day you'll grow up and see reality.
