I don’t think the staff will wait on him. If they get another capable big I think they will take him. Cisse needs lots of work and time to be the man. If he doesn’t come back very soon, I doubt very seriously it will be Memphis.
This could be the worse hot take I read all day. And that is saying something.

IDK.... That is what I was getting at when I wrote Post 19 on the first page that nobody seemed to read. Apparently the radio guys knew something about this within 45 minutes of his NBA draft announcement.

At that age they are not kids
At my age anyone under the age of 30 is a kid.
I never blame the kids. I blame the parents and “handlers” who want to live their lives through them.

Yep. From what we've seen from the parents, it's obvious where the root problems lay...

Did he make 10 FTs this year?
He made 24 of 74 for 32%. Only Williams shot more free throws at 78.
I guess there was no reason not to foul him.

It's absolutely why he couldn't be on the floor at end of games - evidently a point of frustration for him and his peeps.
Good luck finding a coach that leaves you out there, dude.

Now, he could come back and work on things and be a student. But, the staff can only work with him a set amount of time due to NCAA rules.
However, if he agrees and is drafted in the second, he can work with coaches hours on end, each and every day, unrestricted. No classes or other student obligations to take him away from training for his future dream.
I don’t know how the young man feels about his education right now, or if he is interested in getting to a money-making position in the league for his family. But I can see him taking the direct route if it is laid out like I stated.
Good luck to him in making the best decision for himself.
I looked at 7 mock drafts. The only time he was even mentioned and that was a maybe second round was in 2023 or 2024. It is good to check out options, get feedback, know what needs to improve. Nothing risked. With Sam coming in next year he would have daily practice Moussa would be going against a 7' 260 man-child who at least in one high school game this year hit 6 3 pointers. They would not be on the floor at the same time but man, how many times through the years have we gotten our butts kicked by the physicality of a true big man? Moussa got pushed around this year and his game was limited in multiple ways.

That is one way of looking at it. The way I see it, he is going to improve, get much bigger and stronger, and he will be the same age as other college freshmen. It will suck for us if we end up helping him get his feet wet, and he goes on to dominate somewhere else. That is definitely a possibility.

Same here. There are a lot of people around these young men who continually chirp in their ear about how "good" they are. How it would be different somewhere else. You're not appreciated here. Etc. Go somewhere else and be a star. Sorry. That rarely happens.
I wish Moussa the best, but wow. Imo, he was in the best possible place at this stage of his development. I read where he wanted more minutes and the ball more? Wellllll....you can't play him at the end of close games because he bricks FT's. The basketball is a foreign object to him right now. You have to duct tape it to him or else he'll drop it. How many times did I white knuckle a possession when he got the ball in the post...
I liked Moussa, and he did some good things this season. But in reality, we'll find someone much better to fill that void.

Don't disagree with most of what had been said about Cisse, but don't forget he was AAC freshman of the year. So he had to be somewhat respected for what he accomplished on the court.

RE: Memphis’ Moussa Cisse Declares For The NBA Draft
I could sense some frustration from some of his teammates specially Williams in the NIT.. He just couldn't catch any pass to save his life.. Dude got rock hands or some kind of coordination issues.. He got no offensive game other than dunking.. his FT percentage is horrendous.. 32% is just embarrassing.
But if he is willing to comeback and work on his weaknesses... Welcome back, Cisse.. If not, good luck wherever you go.

RE: Memphis’ Moussa Cisse Declares For The NBA Draft
Some of you need to remember that Cisse grew up playing soccer. He only started playing basketball in high school in Newark and he graduated (here in Memphis) a year early. He didn't even live in the US until 2016.
All the comments about his free throw shooting and hands are true but when you look at it in context, there's still a lot of upside there. A lot of these other kids have been playing since they were old enough to dribble a ball - Cisse is not one of those.
I'm not sure about his "handlers" but this is a kid who hasn't seen his mother but once since 2016.
And if you have read any of the articles on him, he says he wants to get to the NBA for 2 reasons: one to take care of his single mother and two to "take care of the kids in Africa" (especially his home country of Guinea). He talked about not even having shoes growing up.
That's a kid I can root for. I want him to do well at Memphis but I hope the kid reaches his dreams.
It's easy to only look at these young men as what they do on the floor but there's a lot more to them. Let's try to remember that.

RE: Memphis’ Moussa Cisse Declares For The NBA Draft
Many of the same folks that were saying Cisse was a "one and done" and touting his signing with Memphis last year, are the same ones that are now saying that he's garbage and we can/will find much better.
It's the same folks that are touting the two new transfers, saying how great they are, but have never even seem them play.
