Memphis has, essentially, its starting lineup back:

PG Lomax
Wing Nolley
Wing Lester
Combo forward Williams
Center Cisse

Let's hope they all return (assuming they will be happy in doing so). That's a very good lineup.

This, "Well, if they don't want to be here, Penny will bring in somebody better" mindset from some on the board ... I don't subscribe to that approach.

These five have played together for a season and know each others' respective tendencies, strengths and weaknesses.

I hope they all five return.

It would be nice to have him back and some overall continuity of the roster but sometimes you can't make them want to like being on the team. It seems like Penny did all he could to help him along so if he doesn't want to be on the team, it's best he moves on. Hope he realizes how much Penny has made him a better player and returns.

But do we know Cisse is unhappy being a member of the program? If so, I agree with you that it might be best for both parties to part ways. But Cisse may simply want to see what the scouts think and realizes he is not going to be a first round draft pick (probably not a second rounder either) and is planning to return.

No we don't but if he leaves to another school, we know he wasn't happy or there was something in the program he felt it was lacking.

I'm hearing he won't be back. After NBA eval, I hear he will enter transfer portal. Not firsthand, just repeating what I've heard.

I agree. And I agree about the lawsons. But I’m hearing it’s real possibility.

If the Lawsons can guard I would be on board with them...But we still need another ball handler. I don't think either of the Lawsons fit that role.

Unless everyone is going to be OK with Hardaway being our 2nd string PG we need to add another ball handler.

"If the Lawson's can guard" is just another way to say if pigs couldn't fly. They are too slow.

If they cant guard I would pass.

Moussa is testing the waters and may be gone either way. I wouldn't wait around on him if a better or even equal big comes available. Dat's just me though.

Three traditional bigs were too many...

Cisse, Malcom and Sam couldn't be on the floor at the same time. And Penny tends to default to small ball when the offense falls apart.

If he doesn’t stay in the draft, he will be transferring to FSU or LSU. So it’s probably best to start preparing now for life after Cisse.

Why doesn't he take the bar while he is at it? He's just as prepared for that test as he is for the NBA right now. Except for free throws has he even scored 10 points beyond 10 feet from the basket this year?

Pfffft...

I would take Williams, Q and DJ over Nolley if you made me choose.

Nolley is way better than DJ. But I don’t see how taking Johnathon should matter to Nolley. He isn’t coming in and taking his minutes. No way

Especially boy kids. Their frontal lobe just lags...lol

https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/encyclope...entID=3051

Understanding the Teen Brain
It doesn’t matter how smart teens are or how well they scored on the SAT or ACT. Good judgment isn’t something they can excel in, at least not yet.

The rational part of a teen’s brain isn’t fully developed and won’t be until age 25 or so.

In fact, recent research has found that adult and teen brains work differently. Adults think with the prefrontal cortex, the brain’s rational part. This is the part of the brain that responds to situations with good judgment and an awareness of long-term consequences. Teens process information with the amygdala. This is the emotional part.

In teens' brains, the connections between the emotional part of the brain and the decision-making center are still developing—and not always at the same rate. That’s why when teens have overwhelming emotional input, they can’t explain later what they were thinking. They weren’t thinking as much as they were feeling.

Yep, that old frontal lobe doesn't even connect until early to mid 20's.

He's not even close. His going through the motions and then going pro. I can't imagine he'd go to another school, unless he's afraid he'd be playing behind Ayomide?

Yeah, but he had to take 30 to get to 10.

IF Malcolm is healthy (big 'if'), I'm okay with him taking over the starting spot. And Sam serves as backup - which is important due to speed of the game, and fouls.
I hate to lose an NBA prospect, but let someone else take that steep learning curve and keep him happy with 30 minutes a game. It won't payoff for another couple of years and he'll certainly be gone by then.
G-league would probably be best for him next year.

The days of recruiting a high potential player and watching them develop seem to be over. It's too bad. Its one of the things I enjoy about college basketball. I think Cisse is going to be really good eventually.

I don’t think the staff will wait on him. If they get another capable big I think they will take him. Cisse needs lots of work and time to be the man. If he doesn’t come back very soon, I doubt very seriously it will be Memphis.
