The "decision makers" were the city. Regarding that article, yes pretty much every city is getting help from the military and the private sector (I know this from personal experience - my company makes front-line equipment related to operation warp speed).

The city does enough wrong, we can give them credit during the blue moons when they get something right.

And by the way, that article needs a correction - after the state's investigation they found out that they were incorrect on the # of vaccines that went to waste. It was way less - still not a good look.

If you think what happened in Shelby Co and the state's involvement after is what is happening at "pretty much every city" you are grossly mistaken. Shelby was the only county in the state that required this level of involvement. I only grabbed one article about it. It also made national headlines.

I think the confusion comes because the state first got involved and took it over. The next day, they handed the day-to-day administration over to the city - while keeping oversight with the state.

We do agree on the improvement though - regardless of where you give credit. Since the firing of Haushalter and the others, and the takeover, the total COVID response has improved dramatically. Not just the vaccinations, but the decisions and health directives. I think the shake-up actually led to the SCS finally keeping their timeline to returning students, too - but that's my opinion.

And the state investigation confirmed 2,500 expired doses. I'd be curious to see your info that says otherwise.

And that is 100% correct. The national guard was involved BEFORE the county made national headlines and they are involved NOW. and they are involved in MANY CITIES and have been since the governor signed executive order 68.

The article (and you) implied that the military/state had to be involved after Shelby County made the news - that is factually incorrect. They've been involved and have aided since December 2020 - testing, logistics, flying in equipment, and more.

The city of memphis took over and things were run MUCH more smoothly. Trying to discredit that because you don't like the city or can't give them credit for ONE single thing is disingenuous. If you don't believe me, go volunteer for a day and ask some of the people who have been there since day 1.

Maybe if everyone in the tent pours a bottle of water on a tree each day and the National Guard and FEMA setup some UV light sources the trees won't die.

I'm giving credit to both the state and the city. You just want to give credit to the city - largely ignoring that the state took it over first and that is what instigated the improvements.
And as I said, I just grabbed the first article that popped up when I searched, as an example. There are dozens to choose from if you think the National Guard article was bad.
