The AAC will not drop a member. However the conference can remain at 10 for FB and 11 for BB if it wants to remain on par with the G3 (MAC, SB, CUSA) one step below the MWC. If the AAC loses a member it will lose its top member thus putting it below the MWC and on par with the other G3 conferences. The real question here is whether the AAC could raid the MWC for 2 or 4 members to add to it's western division thus crippling the MWC if not killing it. At the very least the MWC would shrink to the level of CUSA and the SB because it would have to recruit schools like NMST and Texas El Paso to stay alive. 07-coffee3 05-stirthepot 04-bow 04-jawdrop 07-coffee3

chargeradio - I live in Houston and used to cover the Owls. I can tell you that they are to a certain degree seriously considering going the Johns Hopkins/Univ of Chicago route. The Owls could still play up in baseball. They have little interest in rejoining an athletics arms race after their SWC experience. Granted the AAC is no SWC. For the record, I am a BIG admirer of the school. I will let my Owls friends give further clarification.
