Was checking up on him and see he is no longer on staff at UC Irvine. Did I miss something. Sure hope he's OK.

Heard an interview with him maybe a year and a half ago and he said he was moving to Vegas and taking some time off.

I heard he took the year off this year, but I don't know what his plans are for next year.

He had ankle replacement surgery last June and decided to take the year off rather than huff around while recovering during a pandemic. He's in Vegas currently.

Definitely worth watching. I so enjoyed his years at ODU. Some really great years, great games, many wonderful memories...

We cold do worse, but if he returned, don't you think expectations would be way too high for an immediate return to the glory days?

Kind of wish they had put him on a forced sabbatical to get his life together and then have had him comeback after a year off or something. I know hindsight is 20/20 and I know we all do not know what had gone down in the last six months, year, two years of his tenure at ODU. Nut I would have loved to see him be like Roy Williams and retire from ODU on his own terms. Oh well what could have been

My comment above wasn’t necessarily intended to mean at ODU. Although I’d be fine if the powers that be did invite him back.

Really, it would great to see him resurface as a head coach at any D1 program.

At 63 still has some gas in the tank.

I hope that all is still well and that he is living his best life. Basketball and personal troubles aside, he always seemed like a decent man.

I love Blaine so much and would love to see him be a hugely successful coach. I would be nervous bringing him back here though. It would be easy to fall back into old habits and find his way back to old haunts and influences. Sometimes you have to have a change of location to help you avoid your demons. That said, if the powers that be made the decision to have him make a triumphant return, Id support him 100%. FYI: the ODU specific stuff is from about 11:00 to 19:00

I'm with anyone who faces "their" problems and gets on the right track. As someone who gave up drinking myself, I'm super proud of him.

I predict he will coach again at some level. To hear him speak of how he built our team, he knows his stuff, no question.

It wasn't he's first bite of the apple. I'm not perfect and wish him the best. I don't think he'll be a head coach again, I might be wrong. To entrust a +$4 million/yr program in him is not a risk most ADs will take. Too much liability.

I don't know much about liability but I do know likeability...Blaine Taylor has that in spades.

Say what you will about Liberty, but they have given many a man a second chance. To do so isn’t wrong, but as someone said, college athletic directors and presidents are extremely risk adverse.
