RE: All Time AAC FB Records
Which is more important for conference prestige? Our good teams beating P5s? Or the conference as a whole not losing to g4s?
Definitely some of both but it seems as though p5 wins count for a lot more than beating up on g4s. Problem is that our teams that beat p5 inevitably lose in-conference to someone that lost to a g4 and then the whole conference is written off :/
P5 win %
UH 61.5
Navy 50.0
Cincy 46.7
UCF 41.2
USF 38.9
Temple 35.7
ECU 35.7
Memphis 35.7
SMU 07.1
Tulane 0.00
Tulsa 0.00
G4 win %
Memphis 85.7
Tulane 80.0
ECU 75.0
Cincy 73.3
UCF 72.7
SMU 69.2
Tulsa 60.0
USF 57.1
Houston 50.0
Temple 46.2
Navy 37.5

From the beginning of the AAC, the two biggest surprises to me are Memphis and ECU. Memphis was horrible when we first started, and I thought ECU would continue to be successful to some degree in football.

32-16 in conf (67%) prior to Holgs arrival, 5-9 (36%) in his two seasons at the helm.
If he doesn't turn it around this season he needs to go.
Last season was just a waste time for everyone... One thing coach H knows is how to assemble a high power offense... I haven’t given up on our coach just yet still believe coach H was the right hired.

That looks like it has mostly to do with coaching changes.

Looking at the schedule since 2013, seems like SMU tends to schedule the likes of Texas Tech, TCU, and Texas A&M frequently. Is there any thought to scheduling someone like Kansas State, Kansas or even venturing out into another region to play some winnable P5 opposition (Colorado, Washington State, Vandy, Duke, WF, etc.)?
We have Vanderbilt, TCU and Maryland on our future schedule.

This is true. ECU is a sleeping giant.

RE: All Time AAC FB Records
2019 UCF is missing a game in the total wins column, should be 10-3.
Also, why do we not count the AAC Championship game in the AAC wins/losses?

Only 8-8 versus the g4 hurts tho.
Any chance you have the games by home and away original poster?
I use to have somewhere the break down versus p5 and ND by home/away/neutral with the bowls also pulled out. If I remember right we are close to .500 on neutral and right at or above .500 for home. We get murdered on the road. I think only two of Tulsa's p5 games have been at home, although that is still not an excuse for that horrendous record.
yeah, that's why I said we only show up for the P5 and then crap the bed on everyone else for some reason.
although these are good indications it's skewed because a lot of our coaches get poached during bowl games and we have to deal with a lot of coaching turnover as a conference. can't fault the teams for having a bad season afterward.
Most of our G4 loses are in bowls where we have badly underperformed since Herman left. Frankly----last year we had absolutely zero business being in a bowl game. This year, the schedule is fairly weak----so we could see an upturn in wins and in reality still be little improved. The offense has been unexpectedly boring and mediocre (at best) since Dana came back (I sure never expected that). Belk will be handling DC responsibilities by himself for the first time in his career---so we will see if the defense continues to improve or takes a step back as Belk adapts to being a DC. He did share the DC title with Cauthen, though I think Cauthen was really "the guy" since he was the one with 11 years of experience as a defensive coordinator. I think the talent base is better---but Ive reached the "show me" stage with Dana. This is the season he needs to "show me" his rebuild is really starting to bear fruit or he needs to go at the end of the season.
