RADFORD, Va. (AP) -- Mark Patton scored 19 points, including two free throws with 10 seconds left in the game, to cap a 13-5 run that lifted Marshall to a 79-77 victory over Raford on Thursday.

After trailing by 10 points in the second half, Patton made a layup to give the Thundering Herd (3-3) their first lead 74-72 with 2:50 remaining. Marshall extended the lead to 77-73 on an Eric Smith 3-pointer with 2:02 left to go.

Chris Goodin scored 15 points for the Highlanders (3-3), including a 3-pointer that began a 7-2 spurt to give Radford a 49-39 lead with 17:04 left in the second half.

Marvin Black and Ronny Dawn scored 20 points apiece. Dawn was 5-of-9 from behind the arc for the Thundering Herd. Patton grabbed 10 rebounds.

Whit Holcomb-Faye had 21 points to record his sixth straight double-digit game for the Highlanders, who led at the half 42-32. Goodin had 15 points and Aaron Gill added 12.
