RE: The Deranged 60 Minutes Hit Piece on Ron DeSantis Gives the Game Away
Quote:Gov. Ron DeSantis’ team fired back at the White House on Tuesday for attacking the state of Florida’s vaccine rates for African Americans.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki voiced “concerns” about Florida’s vaccination rates on Monday in response to a report aired on 60 Minutes Sunday.

“One of the concerns we’ve had as we’ve watched the data is that 17 percent of Florida’s population is African American, but less than seven percent of vaccinations have gone to African Americans in the state,” she said during the White House press briefing.

But a spokesperson for DeSantis criticized the White House for pushing a false narrative from corporate news media.

“This is part of an intentionally false narrative being pushed by the partisan media and the Biden Administration should get the facts before repeating talking points from the 60 Minutes debacle,” wrote DeSantis spokeswoman Meredith Beatrice in a statement to Breitbart News.

Beatrice noted DeSantis prioritized seniors for the vaccine, “without regard to income level or zip code.”

She also pointed to other efforts by the administration to reach underserved communities including a door-knocking campaign reaching more than 200,000 homes as well as partnerships with organizations such as Souls to the Polls and AmeriCorps for outreach.

“The Governor’s administration has worked with every member of Florida’s Legislative Black Caucus and partnered with more than 230 faith-based organizations to vaccinate nearly 86,000 seniors at places of worship,” Beatrice said.

DeSantis also deployed 14 mobile buses, established 25 pop-up locations at food banks, and created a vaccination program focused on Holocaust survivors. Other efforts included a focus on farmworkers and meat packaging plants, events in mobile home parks, and special outreach aimed at HUD housing.

The DeSantis team noted the state also worked with FEMA and the federal government to open four large vaccination sites in underserved areas in Miami, Tampa, Jacksonville, and Orlando.

“Our efforts to expand access to underserved communities at FEMA sites have been so effective that nearly 50 percent of the people vaccinated at these sites are minorities,” Beatrice wrote.

But Psaki credited the Biden administration for the four FEMA vaccination sites in the state.

“These sites disproportionately serve communities of color,” she said, noting the Biden White House “took these specific actions for that purpose.”

It is unclear why the White House’s launched an unprompted attack on DeSantis, a popular leader in the state of Florida for his approach to the coronavirus pandemic and the vaccination process.

“We are not going to hurt the people of Florida just because of the steps or actions of leadership,” Psaki said. “And we will continue to take actions to ensure that the vaccine is equitably distributed.”

Very possibly (maybe likely) released a virus.......most certainly made no attempt to keep it in China.

Convinced almost all the Western world to lock themselves down and nearly wreck each countries economy for a virus that is fatal to less than 1% of the population.

Used said virus as a cudgel to try and unseat a President that wouldn’t play by their rules, then when they saw that wouldn’t defeat him, cheated rampantly enough to install a person that’s at best in mental decline.

They’ve cranked up the printing presses to devalue the dollar a bunch.

They are opening the border floodgates to allow as many illegals in country to scatter as possible.

......developed a vaccine that certainly appears more gene therapy than vaccine, to what ends no one knows....but they are still pushing people that have had the virus and are immune to still get the vaccine???

And now pushing “Vaccine Passports” to force vaccination if people want to participate in society and implementing “social credit scores”

Have a Bill in Congress to federalize elections (a clear violation of the Constitution) that would institutionalize the ability to election cheat.

This is where we are and at least half the American populace is in the dark and ignorant of what is happening. The takeover is in-process.

If the state governments don’t get off their asses and clean up the election laws from cheating (no chance the fed does it) we are very close to a fascist state and voting won’t matter.

.......we are nearing the hill to die on.

I appreciate this post. I think JR and I are on the same side of the page, just with different ideas. We need to WIN and get these cheats out...

I personally am not ready to die on this hill, but I am a LOT closer than I was 4 years ago...

Maybe part of that difference is age?? I wouldn't want the current crop of 18-30yr olds to be fighting FOR me, because most of them aren't on my side. (I'm approaching 60)

THAT would be a coup. I think Trump's personality and service to the country would be an ASSET in the house, and he could do it for decades rather than for just 4 years.... and he'd only have to win one small area (and have Reps hold the house)

It would also be a HUGE story for centuries

I don't think Trump is the best candidate for 2024. Assuming the democrats will run Kamala the ****, republicans will have a huge potential advantage in that it's going to be hard for the MSM to polish up that turd enough to make her look more likable than whomever republicans run. They need to run somebody without Trump's negatives.
But what they really need to do is focus on issues. Republicans haven't run an issues-based campaign since 1994. How did that turn out?
I’d disagree with that, I think the ‘16 campaign was very much about the issues. Sadly the same ones we are largely facing again today.
‘20 more about personality, hurt feels, anarchy from the trust fund kids and a temper tantrum. I’ve never seen as many new converts to “McCain is a great hero” people in my life.
Cheney and Dubbya were both Texans at the time, Cheney just switched PO Boxes once he found himself to.be the best suited to be VP (which I did and do support).
Trump just moves to another of his golf courses in NoVa, Md., Colorado wherever. TrumpForce one can get him around easily enough.
Perhaps even go with a DeSantos/Trump ticket? It’s basically what we have today, only with the training wheels off, and far less tapioca and fewer chin wipes.

One proposal I heard is that Trump run for a safe congressional seat in Florida, and if republicans retake the house, they make him speaker. That one sounds very juicy to me.

I've heard that bandied about as well, likely here actually. Trump as Speaker then gets to impeach the first female POTUS in our history. ha!

damned, it gets worse. 60 minutes was trying to say that noone would refute the story, even after they spoke with Moskowitz. NOw they are saying noone would refute it on camera, to which Moskowitz levels a haymaker on them.

RE: The Deranged 60 Minutes Hit Piece on Ron DeSantis Gives the Game Away
Quote:PolitiFact, a dishonest and discredited left-wing fact checker, can only bring itself to admit video of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) that was deliberately and maliciously edited by the long-discredited 60 Minutes, “could constitute deceptive editing.”

“The ’60 Minutes’ segment omits some of the background on why Florida partnered with Publix to distribute coronavirus vaccines. That omission could constitute ‘deceptive editing,’ as some social media users have claimed,” the far-left PolitiFact wrote on Wednesday (I don’t link to fake news).

And this is how the corporate media cult protect one another….

60 Minutes is caught red-handed telling lies so provably false and so audacious that two Democrat state officials are now siding with DeSantis… 60 Minutes is caught red-handed editing out DeSantis giving a 60 Minutes hack a full and complete answer to her question… And the left-wing hacks at PolitiFact run in to the rescue.

When you ask a politician a question and the politician answers your question at length and to the satisfaction of any reasonable person, and then you edit out his answer and only include the part where he’s pushing back against the questioner, that is CLEARLY a case of deceptive and malicious editing. It is also a case of media fraud and a deliberate act on the part of 60 Minutes to deceive whoever is stupid enough to still watch that stupid show.

PolitiFact is so dishonest it doesn’t even laugh at 60 Minutes’ ridiculous explanation for its malicious edit:

A CBS News spokesperson told PolitiFact the comments were edited for clarity, a common journalistic practice. “As we always do for clarity, ‘60 Minutes’ used the portion of the governor’s over two-minute response that directly addressed the question from the correspondent,” the spokesperson said.

On what planet is editing out the politician answering your question an act of “editing for clarity?”

Who in their right mind believes editing out the answer to the question will in some way bring “clarity?”

This hideous woman at 60 Minutes asked DeSantis a question, and here is about 95 percent of his answer:

So first of all … the first pharmacies that had it were CVS and Walgreens. And they had a long-term care mission, so they were going to the long-term care facilities. They got vaccine in the middle of December, they started going to the long-term care facilities the third week of December to do LTCs. So that was their mission, that was very important and we trusted them to do that.

As we got into January we wanted to expand the distribution points. So yes, you had the counties, you had some drive-thru sites, you had hospitals that were doing a lot. But we wanted to get it into communities more, so we reached out to other retail pharmacies — Publix, Walmart. Obviously CVS and Walgreens had to finish that mission, and we said we’re going to use you as soon as you’re done with that. For the Publix, they were the first one to raise their hands (and) say they were ready to go. And you know what? We did it on a trial basis. I had three counties. I actually showed up that weekend and talked to seniors across four different Publix — How was the experience? Is this good? Should you think this is a way to go? — and it was 100% positive. So we expanded it and then folks liked it.

And I can tell you, if you look at a place like Palm Beach County, they were kind of struggling at first in terms of the senior numbers. … So we did that, and what ended up happening was, you had 65 Publix in Palm Beach. Palm Beach is one of the biggest counties, one of the most elderly counties. We’ve done almost 75% of the seniors in Palm Beach, and the reason is because you have the strong retail footprint. So our way has been multi-faceted, it has worked — and we’re also now very much expanding CVS and Walgreens now that they’ve completed the long-term care mission.

Every word of the above was edited out by 60 Minutes, the meat of the answer was deliberately removed. Not one word of that was included. But 60 Minutes did leave this part of the DeSantis answer in:

I just disabused you of the narrative and you don’t care about the facts, because obviously I laid it out for you in a way that is irrefutable. And so it’s clearly not.

Again, how is that “editing for clarity?” And how does that fall under “could be” deceptive editing for any fair-minded person, especially one that poses as a fact checker?

But this is how the game is played…

A member of the elite media cult is caught red-handed committing fraud….

Another member of the elite media cult is sent in to pose as fact checker and gaslight the public by muddying the waters with words like “could.”

Bottom line: All the corporate media do is lie, lie, lie, lie, lie; and when they’re caught lying, their fake fact checkers, like PolitiFact, rush in with more lies, lies, lies, lies to protect them.

Look at all the lies PolitiFact has told over the years. Lie after lie after lie after lie.

Shamelessly dishonest propaganda all up and down the line.

RE: The Deranged 60 Minutes Hit Piece on Ron DeSantis Gives the Game Away
Quote:I guess 60 Minutes felt they hadn’t already burned enough of their credibility because they’ve put out another statement regarding their hit piece on Ron DeSantis. This time, they attempted to change their entire story, asserting the supposed truthfulness of a narrative the original report wasn’t even centered on.

(related Emails Between 60 Minutes and Ron DeSantis’ Office Make Things Even Worse and Tucker Carlson Interviews Ron DeSantis Over 60 Minutes Hit Piece, and an Absolutely Beatdown Occurs)

There are two things to note here. As Greg says, 60 Minutes’ original, false narrative was that there was a corrupt, pay-to-play scheme setup between Publix and DeSantis. Multiple Democrat officials came out to accuse CBS News of intentionally lying about that and obfuscating from the statements they gave to 60 Minutes. In short, Publix is the largest grocery store chain in Florida, with over 800 stores. They were also the only retailer ready to go on the scale needed at the time. As DeSantis previously noted, CVS and Walgreens were already occupied administering vaccines to the elderly in long-term care facilities.

Yet, past that, 60 Minutes’ newest statement also propagates a lie. DeSantis did not leave more rural, underserved communities to twist in the wind. In fact, he set up initiatives to get vaccine sites set up at churches and other locations in communities like the Glades. Anquan Boldin, a former NFL star, actually thanked DeSantis for his work in doing so.

Lastly, I want to point out exactly what 60 Minutes is trying to do here. Because their initial report has already been ripped apart, including by left-wing fact-checkers who had to reluctantly admit the clips were deceptively edited, CBS News needs a redirect. And what better redirect than to attempt to play the race card? By bringing up the Glades, 60 Minutes wants to make it seem like DeSantis didn’t care about getting poor, black residents the vaccine. The facts tell a different story, but they know there’s no surer way to push back on valid criticism than to scream “racist!” at someone else. That’s all this is, in my opinion.

60 Minutes doesn’t get to change the entire premise of their story to obfuscate from the fact that they published fake news. Their report was a lie and used manipulated video to target Ron DeSantis with completely false allegations. That’s a decision they have to own and the consequences that come with it. Cheap appeals to racial politics won’t work here.

Emails Between "60 Minutes" And DeSantis’ Office Make Things Even Worse For the Show

Sixty Minutes has been a left wing propaganda joke for a while---its just taken time for them to completely ruin a reputation it took the show decades to build. Its funny---but Ive seen some episodes of the Australian version of 60 Minutes (didnt even know that existed until recently) and it appears they have not lost their journalistic integrity like their wildly left wing activist counterparts in the US. I think the two presidential candidate interviews prior to the election was the final straw for most---Im surprised the dumb show actually has any viewers left.

RE: The Deranged 60 Minutes Hit Piece on Ron DeSantis Gives the Game Away
Quote:The journalistic reputation of CBS News’ “60 Minutes” program was already not good well before their bogus report on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis aired last week. But since that time it’s been in a dramatic freefall, as the hits against them just keep on coming.

They tried the “pay to play” narrative on DeSantis and grocery chain Publix in regards to the state’s vaccine distribution plan through deceptively edited clips, and that was thoroughly debunked not just by DeSantis but also by prominent Democrats in the state of Florida with direct knowledge of the situation.

When that didn’t work, “60 Minutes” tried to shift gears by pushing a predictable “racism” narrative, suggesting – as some Florida-based media outlets had already done – that DeSantis was only concerned about wealthy seniors in mostly white communities because they are a key voting bloc. That didn’t go so well, either, as my colleague Bonchie reported Thursday.

But a closer look at some of the other so-called “reporting” from “60 Minutes” on the vaccine distribution program in Florida reveals just how deep the level of their deception on the “racism” angle actually was.

In a piece that ran on the same day their discredited DeSantis piece aired, “60 Minutes” reported on how “by March, 11 weeks into the frenzied vaccine rollout, more than half of seniors in the Glades,” where the “majority of the population is Black and Latino, and many live below the poverty line … had not been vaccinated.”

They noted that Tammy Jackson-Moore, a community activist, started an awareness campaign that included going on a “media blitz” and getting mayors to write letters to the governor’s office regarding the transportation issues Glades seniors had in getting the nearest Publix location, which was 25 miles away. She ended up getting the attention of former NFL player Anquan Boldin, who grew up in the Glades. It was when Boldin got involved that things kicked into high gear (which Bonchie referenced in his report):

When Boldin learned that some residents in the Glades couldn’t access vaccine sites, he wanted to help. The retired football player called Florida Secretary of the Lottery John Davis, a fellow Pahokee native and FSU football alum. “I got in contact with John and let him know the needs we had out in the Glades area. He connected me to some people at the governor’s office and we got the ball rolling,” Anquan Boldin told 60 Minutes Overtime.

About a week later, a vaccination site opened at a facility at a local high school—the Anquan Boldin Football Stadium. On opening day, Boldin says he met residents from all over the Glades who were thrilled to get the vaccine. “They were just excited [to have] the vaccination…a lot of people were excited,” he said.

What does the “60 Minutes” piece on Boldin’s involvement leave out? It leaves one with the impression that no attention was paid to the Glades by the governor’s office until mid-March. But that’s not true. While the piece mentioned Florida Lottery Sec. John Davis’ efforts to get vaccine sites in the Glades, what the piece didn’t mention is that he was touting the governor’s response to Boldin’s and his pleas back in early February. Davis’ Twitter timeline is filled with his tweets on the issue and his retweets of DeSantis’ comments about bringing vaccine distribution sites to Glades communities in February:

In response to the “60 Minutes” hit piece on DeSantis, Davis did not mince words:

So at this point, we’ve got two prominent Democrats who dispute the report, and now a prominent African-American official in the state who also says it’s BS. Will “60 Minutes” still try to stand by their discredited and shoddy reporting? Probably. Because as history has shown us with the media when they’ve been caught at this sort of thing, they just keep on keeping on. Because narratives – and trying to nuke the political aspirations of a popular Republican public official – are more important than credibility with readers and viewers, apparently.

RE: The Deranged 60 Minutes Hit Piece on Ron DeSantis Gives the Game Away
Quote:When you do something wrong, you acknowledge it and apologize, right?

But that’s if you have a conscience.

“60 Minutes” doesn’t have much of a conscience.

After all the furor this past week over their despicable deceptive hit piece against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, they did mention the controversy on their show last night. But they didn’t apologize or retract anything.

Indeed their effort — trying to show ‘both sides’ reactions to their story — once again just obscured the facts instead of just admitting they were wrong.

From Fox News:

“In the mail this week, comments on our story about disparities in the distribution of COVID-19 vaccine in Palm Beach County, Florida. Viewers focused on an exchange with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at a press conference. Some viewers, including a retired newsman, applauded the story,” correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi said before leading with a glowing letter from someone who enjoyed the report.

“But many more comments condemned our editing and reporting,” Alfonsi continued before reading a pair of letters with negative feedback.

Now, let’s face it. That was a pretty lame response to justifiable criticism of their piece. It made it appear that it was just a difference of opinion, as opposed to the piece presenting a false perception of what DeSantis said because of their editing. Notice they also describe the story as being on the “disparity” of vaccine distribution, stating it as though it was a fact. In addition to the deceptive editing part of the story, they never proved that there was in fact “disparity” in the distribution. As we know, that really wasn’t what the story was about in any event as much as it was an attempted hit piece on DeSantis.

The now-notorious story suggested that DeSantis had given Publix grocery stores the ability to distribute the vaccine because they’d made a contribution to his PAC. But that was debunked by DeSantis and even Democrats who had been involved in the process. “60 Minutes” edited DeSantis’ explanation, cutting out most of the debunking of their claim.

Emails showed that even though Democrats were trying to offer that clarity to the show, they didn’t really care much what they had to say. They previously tried to spin and defend their story but were shot down by those Democrats.

It’s clear that they really didn’t care what the facts were; they were trying to jury rig them to fit a hit piece because DeSantis must be destroyed because he’s a likely future Republican presidential candidate.

Given their work, now we even have to question whether the people they claim they received letters from are real.
