The new folks at SCHD seem to be doing a much better job. Vax are running more smoothly. And the SCHD directives are much more reasonable.
I even think they finally re-opened Riverside Dr on weekends!

I did not know that.

I dropped a friend off at a rental car place in the parking garage at the airport last week. I had to get a ticket but since I was only in there a few minutes there was no charge. Th girl in the booth, behind the glass and wearing 2 masks, screamed at me because I wasn't wearing a mask in my car. I just had to put my ticket into the slot to raise the arm to get out. She ran from the booth to call her supervisor. True story.

Ridiculous, but not unbelievable. Some of those folks are nuts.

A silver lining through this whole mess is that it's a bit easier to figure out which ones are nuts these days. I've been to a few businesses where all they are concerned about is masks and taking it to the extremes. Now I know which places not to go back to.

One example. Kelly English. I used to love his restaurants. Over the past 13 months, I've seen him whining and whining all the time. First it was because the Trump was shutting them down. Then it was because the Lee was allowing them to reopen too soon. Now it's because he can't get workers (but don't blame the extended unemployment benefits).

OTOH, I've heard interviews with the guys who own Railgarten and a few other biz, and they have always been upbeat, pragmatic, and making the most of the terrible position they are in. Same for the owner of Patrick's, who I think is actually the head of the restaurant association, and the guy who owns Rizzo's.

my wife ate at patrick's on friday, she loves that place

you give out more data when you surf this site and go to google or fill out a credit application than you do on a vaccine passport.

Come on. We use IDs everywhere we go. They’re “asking for our papers” when we buy, alcohol, cash a check, check in for a flight, etc.

I support voter ID. If someone wants to see my shot record, that’s fine with me.

Mutations. By Sept. there'll be variants flourishing that get past the current vaccines. Maybe they'll allow 50% capacity or something more than the small number last year, but I imagine there will be restrictions again this season.

On the bright side, at least the Liberty Bowl isn't "too big" any longer, or at least for a for a while.

I’ve read several research articles that said effectiveness may lessen but vaccines will remain effective. If a really strange mutation occurs the vaccine can easily be modified and quickly respond to the threat.

Nazi Germany gassed Jews and invaded Europe.

What does showing proof of a vax (like we require for school and some jobs) have to do with warehousing Jews?

You have to show proof of vaccination for kids to start public school.
You are have to show your drivers license on request showing you have the ability to operate a car.
You have to show ID to get on a plane.
In most states you have to show proof of car insurance when asked while operating a motor vehicle.

But flashing a vaccine card = nazi Germany?

Hunting license, fishing license, buying a gun, checking in a hospital, going to jail, adoption, picking up packages at a post office, withdrawing funds in person from a bank, opening finance accounts, donate blood, signing up for Social security, buying insurance, buying cigarettes....

So I would say anyone “claiming” they aren’t going to show their ID in our Nazi America plans on being a hermit. A football ticket won’t be a concern.

When my girlfriend sends me a photo of her in a bikini on FB Messenger, right after I start seeing ads for bikinis in my streams. Bikinis have nothing to do with Nazi Germany. The point is that it is very bad.

By football season, it will be full go with no masks. Of course, a lot depends on vaccinations.

They didn't start with gassing Jews either. Now that we are back into a regime change outlook on the world, that is questionable as well.

You've never had to show proof of anything to travel from state to state. If you aren't allowed to attend concerts, sports events, dine in restaurants or shop retail (which some are already pushing), that is crossing a line in my opinion. The level of tracking that the government is able to do with said passports as they were initially being discussed is mind-blowing as well.

First it was because Trump was shutting them down. Then it was because Gov Lee was allowing them to reopen too soon.

If you don't mind me asking what restaurants are his?

He had Hog & Hominy, but it's been closed due to fire for over a year now. He's left with Restaurant Iris (one of the top rated in Memphis), The Second Line, and Fino's. (I think that's the list.) Good chef. But whiny and poor at politics.

I thought Hog & Hominy was the two Italian relatives that owned Andres Michael's across the street?

Yeah, I stand corrected. Andrew and Michael. Husbands of Catherine and Mary (another restaurant in town).
They aren't relatives though, but best friends and biz partners.
Went to HS together, then culinary school together.
Now they are each married, and they live across the street from each other - raising their families together.
I think I got all that right. Heard an interview with them once - interesting story.

Not to pile on, but pretty sure Catherine & Mary’s was named after their grandmothers.
