RE: Houston
I think I saw that North Carolina Illinois in 2005 was the last overall number one v number two

UCLA can also make it a game but based on what they have done all season it feels like no matter how UCLA does early that eventually Gonzaga will win

But, hope for a close one

RE: Houston
UH just got beat by a team that was red hot while they were ice cold. Baylor defense was better than I expected. UH offense which is rarely great was bad. A lot of standing around, dribbling but maybe that was because Baylor was playing such aggressive D. And Baylor offense was awesome - best team advanced. As UH coach said, it's no shame to lose to that Baylor team. If they play like that, they'll give Gonzaga all they want, and maybe more.

Baylor shutdown Jarreau...

Without Jarreau...their offense is just ISO ball.

UCLA is playing fantastic, and yet Gonzaga is so good it is only Bruins by four

5 minutes left in the half

I am not surprised a bit.. Houston needed to pull a miracle out of their arse to beat Baylor after watching Baylor in the Elite 8.

I wish it had been close, at least. It’s not a good look for the AAC for your best team gets smoked on a big national stage.

RE: Houston
In the first half, Houston just dribbled around the perimeter, ran down the shot clock & then took forced 3’s. In the 2nd half, they did a much better job of getting the ball on the block and kicking it out for better looks. Had they not dug such a hole in the 1st half, then they would have had a chance. To be such a good coach, Sampson waited too long to make the adjustment.

That being said, Baylor was simply better than Houston.

RE: Houston
I'm surprised everyone here is so surprised. Baylor and Gonzaga have WAYYYY too much firepower for most top 10 teams. Particularly for overachieving defensive gritty teams like Houston.

I expected a 20 point loss for the coogs.

Its not a knock on the Houston, Baylor is just that loaded.

Yeah...

I think Baylor took their foot off the pedal...

When you are up by 25 at the half...Your defensive intensity tends to lighten up.

I hope not.

RE: Houston
UCLA played the perfect game and still lost.

Baylor is the only team in the country who can beat Gonzaga without having to be perfect AND lucky. They have enough talent to win the game, though I still favor the Zags.

Gonzaga was gassed at the end of that game, as was UCLA. Meanwhile Baylor had a walk in the park against the Flagship. The Zags will need some rest but don't have much time for it. Their starting five played almost the entire game.

His son is an asst coach (head coach in waiting I think), his daughter (or daughter-in-law) is on the athletic staff & Sampson had a long term contract - that's pretty good security & assurance Sampson will be at UH as long as he wants. I think he likes the Houston area, he was an asst for the Rockets before UH.

They played on Saturday night. They play again on Monday. That's one days rest after being completely spent. They were so gassed that Few had to call a timeout in that last minute of regulation for them to sit down. But if all the experts say they only need the one day off then I guess that's it. Its why NBA players take off days on back to backs. But yeah I agree that youth bounces back pretty quick.

Yep

They are kids playing for a national title and perfect season.

Fatigue will not be an issue.
