Warren did shoot 37% from 3 his junior season.

I’m sure you meant freshman season. Though a starter, looks like he was more of a role player as a freshman. They lost two senior guards and three of their four top scorers from last year (72% of their scoring). Looks like Warren was the only impact player (if you can call it that) they had coming back as he was surrounded with inexperience. All of a sudden he had to be the man. He went from 13% of their scoring (10.2) to 31% and pretty much tied their center and forward for rebounds. All things considered, his stats are pretty impressive.

He was a JUCO. His 1st year was his junior year. Will be a 5th year senior here

Ah, ok. I was going by this: https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/sch.../2020.html

Oops, he beat me to it. I should have read one more post, lol.

The link does say Freshman, but that's not right.

The Dude shot 30% from 3 last year, with over 6 attempts per game
high volume 3s with low completion percentage

also avg. more turnovers than assists

The Dude also avg 35 mins per game, so stats might be skewered

everything else looks great!

He was 37% the year prior so this makes me confident that percentage can return to that when he doesn’t have to be the man on the team and can take higher percentage shots.

They (whoever they are) have him listed as a forward his 2nd yr of juco, not that I trust “they” anymore.

Nice. Now if we can get a great three-point shooter, we'll be just fine.

In his Hampton profile, they call him a guard. I think that "they" likely knows better. :)

After we switched up the offense, our 3 point shooting as a team became a weapon. We were great almost all the way across the board.

DW looks like an outstanding addition to the Tiger program.

Will he be eligible immediately? If so, he will help tremendously. I feel fantastic about landing this young man.

Thinking is that NCAA will approve waiver that makes every first-time transfer eligible. But in this case he should be a grad transfer and eligible with or without the rule change

Yep. We wound up with 6 guys who shot between 35-40% for the season. Even including Lomax.

RE: Transfer in Davion Warren 6'6" Guard
Age, check he is a senior
Size, check he is 6-6
Scoring, check 21.2
Rebounding guards check 6.6
Assists, meh 3.0

Competition level, obviously lower but with his age and size and likely being surrounded by other experienced players he should be a solid replacement for Boogie. A major piece

I think it’s all waived this year, hence all the transfers.

Not yet. They still have to vote on the rule change. Postponed from January. But expected to pass easily.

The genie is out of the bottle now. Not sure how they can go back.

It’s as good as done for next year, I hope it’s just a one year deal.

The vote is for a permanent rule change. One free transfer in D1 without penalty. Second one, you still have to sit out a year.
