What kind of coach pitch level crap is that???

Yep, sure is. Yankees lost on opening day in large part due to that rule

If these were kids learning the game, fine. To do that kind of nonsense at the college and pro level is absurd, IMO.

It’s not about that. It’s an attempt to keep games from going on forever and taxing pitching staffs in the process.

I’m not a fan either but the logic behind it makes some sense. 16 inning type games aren’t good for anyone.

I’m not an idiot. I understand why they did it. I just think it’s silly. Also, I’ve been to a couple MLB games that went more at least 14 innings. It was awesome.

The real issue, if you want to go that route is the American desire for instant gratification over getting a better feeling using patience. We have become a society that needs instant gratification constantly. This is a direct result of that.

Ok, maybe some fans get entertained by a game that long. But there’s no doubt that MLB teams playing a 162 game season with limited rosters have zero interest in regular season games taking that long to complete. There’s just no upside to it. Not when 9 inning games take so long and require so many pitchers to complete as it is.

At the collegiate level it’s certainly not as necessary to have the rule due to larger rosters, which is at least partly why not all conferences adopted it.

They don’t really need that many pitchers to finish a 9 inning game..... it’s all the pencil pushers ruining the game

The series rubber match is underway. No score in the 2nd inning.

We really, really need this one.

RE: Baseball: Series vs. Elon
Hawks up 1-0 after a Suggs solo blast. It should have been more runs in the inning, however, as the Hawks had a 1st & 2nd with 1 out situation after the HR. A Marsh pop-up, followed by Bridges getting picked off at 2nd, ended the threat.

Top 3rd.

RE: Baseball: Series vs. Elon
The Seahawks demonstrate in the 3rd how doing the little things leads to runs and wins.

Baldwin led off the inning. After noticing how far back the 1B was playing, he laid down a bunt and reached on a single.

Croom followed by hitting to the right side for a single, getting Baldwin to 3rd.

Then, Weiss grinded out a long AB, and on a 2-2 count, drove one to CF for a SAC fly.

2-0 Hawks.

RE: Baseball: Series vs. Elon
A crucial 2-out error by Elon in the bottom of the 8th allows 2 runs to score for the Hawks. 5-2!
