How about this from Bracketville.... The one that our bubble thing will get based on at the end of the year... Doing it here as well since it'll go out live, and not have to be approved(kind of a joke now TBH).
2 (7) Villanova
3 (12) Xavier
4 (15) Seton Hall
6 (21) Providence
7 (27) Marquette
7 (28) UConn
12 (46) DePaul- 2nd to last team in

70 St John's- 2nd team out
71 Creighton- 3rd team out
99 Butler- 31st team out

DePaul with a huge road win (I watched the last eight minutes or so). Stout Demon defense and David Jones was stellar. I don't want to get too hopeful, as it's still early in the season. But this team might actually end up being fairly successful.

How could Pac-12 be only 3-10? That's odd given the other leagues have played 30 games or more.

Well, Stever, this *should* be the year to most accurately gauge the R/R on tournament seeding, given the conference was very successful OOC. Once we start beating up each other, it will be interesting to see how many bids (likely six) we end up getting, as well as the respective seeds. With only Georgetown, and perhaps Butler, being the true bottom, not sure where the top teams will soak up all the wins - without hurting the middle.

I had kind of thought the same thing. Will be something to monitor for sure going forward.

RE: The Big East for the 2021-22 season
so was just looking. Did you know that Providence is one of only 5 teams in the country with 3 Q1 wins? And Xavier is a 2nd one?
Arizona 3-0
Providence 3-0
Xavier 3-1
Ohio St 3-1
Michigan St 3-2

A generally great few days interrupted by a baffling performance by nova today. I know it was the contention by the announcers (and Stever) that this was due to some superb defense on the part of BU, but I’ll disagree.

Great D can cause faster shots, sure, but I saw a lot of open three shots that were airballs and a ton of missed bunnies. Baylor definitely out hustled, but I don’t buy the great D narrative that emerged today.

Nova got off only 54 shots for the entire game yesterday. They normally average 61 shots. Only 25 in the entire first half. That's mostly on Baylor I think.

The thing that was strange to me watching was how all out of sorts Gillespie was.

I think Nova may have been TOO geeked up if you will to play this game. And especially Gillespie.

Your thoughts on DePaul's difficult win vs. UIC, S20?

didn't watch it- but it was a classic trap type game- playing a weaker team- on the road- in between big games with Louisville and Northwestern.

This is kind of game that DePaul of recent past would have lost.

Yep. Past DePaul teams would have lost nine of 10 such games.

Record-wise, UIC is bad. But statistically (just checked) the Flames are at least so-so.

Given all factors (including it was a "Chicago rivalry game"), I was pleased with the win.

Was very much looking forward to seeing Pitino back at MSG. This one stings.

I have a feeling they're going to get someone for Iona to play. VCU was supposed to play Penn St but Penn St cancelled. VCU/Iona would be good.

RE: The Big East for the 2021-22 season
Hey all, sorry for my inactivity on here, working nights has been catching up to me and I haven't spent nearly as much time lurking these boards as I would have liked to these past few months.

With Nova losing by 20 last night to Creighton... Is it fair to say they're overrated? The Baylor loss I was able to shrug off since Baylor is so damn good... But Creighton is rebuilding a bit and only having an OK season so this one is a bit more head scratching.

I think the league is going to be wide open this year. Almost anyone can win the regular season, as well as the conference tourney. Should be a fun one!

Was browsing the realignment board recently, and with all of the people recommending them as the MVC replacement for Loyola I honestly expected UIC to be a damn good team, or at least have potential

They're a program that I think the transfer portal might impact the most negatively of any one.
