Familiar names at OU
Leading candidates at Oklahoma are said to be Porter Moser and Grant McCasland (previously at ASU). I predicted Porter would turn down St. Johns a few years ago. I have my doubts that he would leave for Oklahoma either. I would think McCasland would jump at an offer from OU.

Other than money, I don't see how Oklahoma benefits Porter in any way.

Sources: Porter Moser is weighing a 6-year offer to be the HC at OU but is said to be ‘on the fence’

Grant McCasland is also in the mix

RE: Familiar names at OU
Now that he apparently has an offer, I really don't know what Porter will do. I think he is in his mid-50's (hard to believe), so maybe this is a logical time to make a move. Probably depends a lot on the ages of his kids- really tough for kids to move when they are teenagers. Hard decision. If he wants to move up, I think he'd be more likely to take a Big 10 job, but you can't wait forever. I think it's a coin flip. I didn't think he would take St. John's, but OU might be tough to pass up.

I think McCasland could end up at OU or TxTech. Kinda fun watching these coaching searches play out.

Well I’m a student at OU and it seems as if people here would rather take Kelvin Sampson out of Houston again. The only problem is that Sampson is from North Carolina and I bet UNC will give him a call. I would love to welcome in Moser personally. The main concern from Ou fans is that this will be Moser’s first P5 coaching job.

They'd be foolish not to hire him if they can. Of course, the administration apparently already knows that. Fans will be fans.

CBS Sports is reporting he is unlikely to take the Oklahoma job. Loyola ups its offer and timing is not right for PM's family.

Well he accepted the job at OU! So I’ll get to see him coach in person!

Yes, I have been seeing that on the internet. Still was looking for 100% confirmation, but I'll take your word that it is done.

They must have waved a ton of money at Porter, because there is absolutely nothing else about the job that would be appealing to him. Totally a weak step-sister to football and even baseball. People in Oklahoma don't even start to think about basketball until after the Super Bowl (if they think about it at all).

Not so sure I agree, although I do acknowledge football is king. OU has had great basketball teams over the years and the only professional team in the State (OKC Thunder) sells out every game.

Football is indeed king here at OU. However, if the basketball team has an outstanding season such as during the Buddy Hield and Blake Griffin teams, fans will come. Actually there's more investment in the Basketball team than in the baseball team. Heck I think the softball team has more investment than the baseball team.
