And?

In AAC world, if you don't get a return game you're a loser.

These guys would rather play three home games against FCS teams than one game at Penn St.

Don't ask me why.

Whatever you have to say to make yourself feel better, go for it. Everyone in the AAC is in the same boat as every other NP5 and if you don't think so then you are just stupid. Even if the B12 blows up and you and a few others are plucked once you get to the blown up B12 it will not be a power conference. It will just be the new misfits of college sports with some very resentful people who were once in a power conference.

You still POed Louisville left you in the dust and no way to ever catch up to them.

Now crawl back into the hole from wince you came from and take your lil SMWho fan with you.

Dude, did you even read what I said? I'm on YOUR side. Not sure how you could misinterpret that.

And since you mentioned it, I didn't see Louisville in a NY6 bowl... so I think we've pretty much caught up to and PASSED them.

Did y'all not do that in '03 with Kansas State, '04 with Ohio State and '03 and '06 with Tennessee?

Hey guys, Bear wasn’t being a troll. He was speaking to the overall attitude of many AAC posters regarding their schools. I understood his context. Cut him some slack.

Kansas State had a return game and played in Huntington in 2005. Tennessee was actually originally signed as a 3-for-1, but we agreed with Tennessee to nullify the remainder of the contract (I think it was because the remaining games didn’t have a fee and we had to make room for WVU series and they wanted to schedule VaTech). 2004 Ohio State was more than 16 years ago, let alone 5 more years from now...

However, I said when the Penn State game is played in 2026, it will have only been the 2nd buy game in 16 years ally that time (Notre Dame in 2022 is the other). Since then, we’ve done home game deals with NC State, Louisville, Va Tech, Pitt, Purdue, Army and Navy, etc.

Kansas State was a 2-1, Manhattan, KS 03, Huntington WV 2005, Manhattan, KS 2006

Ohio State was 18 years ago and was scheduled in 1994, 3 years before Marshall made their IA debut. Tennessee was a 3-1 that got reduced to just one game because both parties wanted to go in a different direction.

Marshall had a 1-1 with Miami FL for the 2006 and 2008 seasons that was cancelled by Bob Marcum when he took over in 2002. His reasoning was he didn't think Miami would travel to Huntington. I don't hate Marcum like a lot of Marshall people do but I do think letting Miami just walk was a mistake.

Ohio State in 2003 is the only true one and done. And we should have beat them. Lost 24-21 on a last second 55 yard FG by Mike Nugent.

IIRC, K-Y Marcum let Tennessee out of their return game with us too.

Fulmer did say they weren't coming. But Marcum should have made them pay the buyout like everyone else.

I understand it was a while ago. I'm actually a Vols fan, and was a bit young back in those days to remember exactly how everything worked out. But I do recall UT having a policy that they wouldn't play in stadium with less than 40,000 at that time. Which is why our 2002 matchup with Wyoming was moved to Nashville. Then again, you guys are right at that capacity, so it seems to make sense. I remember that '03 game very vividly. Had just gotten back from the Liberty Bowl watching the Tigers upset Eli Manning and Ole Miss that morning. Stan Hill was a good QB for y'all and I think Darius Watts was his main receiver. You guys almost pulled it off in Knoxville that year. If I'm not mistaken y'all upset top 5 K-State on the road the very next week. Much respect to the Herd program! That K-State team upset OU in the XII title game, only to see the BCS poll still put them in the title game, giving Saban his first title at LSU, while had they had to play USC, would've never happened. That began the luck that has persisted at LSU to this day.

I seen to remember that the Wyoming game was moved to Nashville by the Wyoming AD Lee Moon and he did for finacial reasons. Moon found a promoter in Nashville to work out the deal and UT was OK with the deal.
I don't believe UT has a stadium requirement. The below link has some of the details.

Marcum canceled the Miami visit to MU for financial reasons. Letting Miami out of visiting MU netted MU a nice payout. Marcum was only interested in building the budget, not pleasing the fans. Marcum also did the same deal with UT. Miami and UT were going to honor their contracts with MU, but High Pants screwed the MU fan base.

The payout was chump change for Tennessee, but Kayo blew it like he did everything regarding Marshall SMDH

Stan tore his ACL after a chest bump after a TD against you all. We beat #6 K State with our backup qb. Lol
