Ehhhh I don’t think it’s a great look. But it is very real possibility.

Aside from the off the court stuff, J Lawson would be a great fit. 6’6 point guard who has the dog in him.

People saying J Lawson is a PG prospect need to stop watching all those AAU highlights showing him in open space and go watch one of his high school games where people actually guard him.

There is ZERO chance that J Lawson is a D1 PG. His first step is slow as molasses, high center of gravity+weak core means he can't turn corners, and his handle under pressure is very loose. High school 2nd string guards press up on him with no fear at all of him blowing by.

No exaggeration when I say this - Mason Miller is a more dangerous off-dribble threat in half-court than Lawson. In our offense J Lawson is an unathletic SF or an undersized PF.

I think y'all might be missing the point.

Tyler knows his place now and would make a great back up spark plug

Lawson sat on the bench at Oregon, will sit on the bench at Memphis, Jonathan can fight for his right

Hopefully we start

Alo (or a better transfer)
Quinones
Nolley
Williams
Cisse

What we need is a great second team

I would have a problem with taking Tyler back...

Not because he is a bad kid...But he is just not productive.

Penny and Tyler are meeting today

Maybe Tyler is simply seeking advice. I can’t envision him back in a Tigers uniform.

We can only hope he won't be back in Memphis. Even a consideration would show how desperate the search is for a high level PG willing to play limited minutes. And BTW, Harris has never been touted as a PG.

Tyler would not be coming back as a PG. Penny clearly likes that Lou Williams type scorer coming off the bench. He used Tyler in that role and Boogie in that role. IF Tyler came back it would be to fill that offensive spark type player off the bench.

Nesbitt entered transfer portal too.

Good scout report on J Lawson.

As we have our first transfer commit, and we still haven't heard anything from Tyler, I'm guessing the discussion did not conclude with him coming back.
Maybe Penny advised SC State and Coach Madlock for Tyler.

That would be a perfect fit. He could be their 5-7 James Hardin. Might even help them win their league.

For his career Hardin is shooting 36.3 from 3. 35.9 this year.

Yeah people forget that even a top 50 college offense still only shoots a bit over 45% from the field. Anything above 33% or so in a college offense is "good". Those guys at 39%+ are crossing into "great"

I am just a little leery too but let's not call him 3rd team. 18 minutes a game is more than 3rd stringers normally get.

It appears he was playing behind senior transfer and leading scorer (tied) Eugene Omoruyi. Chandler was one of the first three off the bench was likely looking at a bigger role going forward.

Exactly. This is how big time players function as freshman in most programs. We just had to start from scratch after Tubby. We've had to lean heavily on frosh players. Some can handle it, most cannot (despite their desire to).

Same here with being leery, but I am open minded. As in what would be his & Penny’s expectations. Looking at the roster seems to me we need a 16-18 MPG rotational player at the 4 spot for next year & someone to compete for starting job year after. I know we have heard of players being disgruntled at filling that role in past, but If he & Penny think it’s a match, I am all for a local kid coming home especially if playing for the hometown team is his desire.

FWIW, I think the players on the roster who are second unit/ role players often are undervalued & the team’s overall success is more often than we realize impacted by whether they are good teammates about accepting their roles & performing to their ability in them.

Pardon me if "his father" saying it doesn't convince me it has really happened.
