The Transfer Portal will reach 1000 and the one time transfer rule has not even been approved yet. It is 985 right now on Verbal Commits. Question I have is- will players like Javon Franklin (Auburn) want to prove he can play at a high major, or will he be okay with transferring home to a midmajor like Little Rock.

That’s an excellent question. Given the sheer volume of players in the portal, there is no way anywhere near all of them can land at the level they might want to. In fact, with 1000 looking to transfer, are there landing spots for all or even most of them in Division 1?

I think a lot may decide to withdraw from the portal, but at that point the question will be is there still be a spot on their present team? Or after having entered the portal, would they be welcomed back? The answer to the last question probably depends entirely on how good they are!

With regard to players like Javon Franklin and Darious Hall, we just have to hope that "mama" and the opportunity to play for an ex-NBA player/coach hold more sway than the bright lights of a high major program. It might be easier to convince Darious Hall, who averaged 5 points at 2 different high major programs, that he would benefit by moving to a midmajor. Doesn't appear that Javon Franklin got much of a chance at Auburn, but that still might tell him something.
