Did Cade Mashburn decide to give up football? He was a linebacker (#16) on the team last year. His younger brother, Cole, has seen a lot of playing time. Anyway, Cade is not listed on the spring roster, so I was curious. I hope he is doing well.

Didn't he transfer after taking a big big step backwards in the new defense last year? He went from a contributor in 7 games 2019 to 2 games last year. He was a redshirt Soph so he had 2-3 years remaining.

I did not hear that, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. He was not getting a lot of playing time. Hope it works out well for him regardless.

Maybe he decided to move on from football altogether since he's not showing in the transfer portal. According to this he graduated.

Interesting that a lot of the guys in the transfer portal are on the graduation list .... I'm hoping that the large number of transfers are more of an outlier due to the COVID factor, and things go back to a more normal next year !!!

Also interesting that only 9 of the 18 in the portal (per 24/7) have found a home. That means the other 9 have missed out on Spring practice. Many analysts felt there would be a large number of kids that don't find a D1 landing spot because of the holdover year for COVID so it will be interesting to see if any of these come back to Silverfield asking for a do-over. Not sure how many he would be interested in having come back. Obviously I think Tahj Washington is a talent you take back but since that just happened I don't expect he will have trouble landing somewhere. Thoughts?

We are already funding more scholarships than budgeted for. I doubt we will be bringing anyone back.

I strongly suspect Tahj already had his offer and is likely on that campus at this very minute.

I suppose if the school is on a quarter rather than semester basis that is possible. Regardless of whether he is there or not I suspect you are correct on him having his offer.

He can be on campus without yet being enrolled.

Makes sense; his brother is still on the roster & he's played well

Best of luck to him. Would’ve loved seeing him and his bro line up one more year. Cole’s gonna be a special player, combo of size and speed, good technique and works hard.

Some of the guys who left were let go because, (1) there wasn’t room and (2) many of the guys coming in are even better. Coaches all over the country are talking about the tough choices they are Required to make.
