Anecdotally, it sure seems that this sort of thing is happening all over college basketball.

yep

would love to see where the kid ends up

never good, but in today's age of free movement, i don't think its a death knell, especially at the mid major level

I don't think anyone has said it's any kind of death. Simply stating that it's a pattern or a trend so far with the new coaching staff. And if it continues, it will definitely become more troublesome.

Haven't heard anything about a departure, so I'd have to assume he just had class or might have been traveling. McCracken went absent from those photos in early July and never returned.

In all, we're still waiting for Samb, Surigao and Morrissey to be added to the roster.

Could be almost anything with McCracken. He's a very talented player, and played on a very high level high school and travel team in Cincinnati. For some reason his family picked up and left Cincinnati his Senior year in HS. He came to Hilton Head SC and immediately took his HS to the state championship game and set records at that high school in one year. Who knows what prompted that move and how it may have affected his ability to come to UNCW or his desire to be here. Most parents I know don't make that kind of move in a pivotal year for their kid unless there's a really good reason.

looking at his Verbal commits, looks like he received an offer from both Cinci and Penn State earlier this year.

Does this mean that UNCW has an open scholarship for this fall? Any chance that we will hear of another recruit being added?

Probably was given to Logan Morrissey. Found it odd when he was added to the roster over the summer but he was a scholarship player at Air Force though saw little action.

RE: 2021-2022 Men's Basketball
Kadim Saab was officially added to the roster. He will be an interesting piece as he can drive it some and shoot the perimeter shot at 6'7" (some had him an inch taller) and listed at 200 lbs. Hawks need additional frontcourt depth so we shall see.

My guess at this point would be Kelly at the 5 to start as he is 6'9" and is 230 or so? The freshman has good size but is a little light as listed so we will see. We've seen lighter guys do well even early so he may pan out well with his athletic ability/long arms but it's good to have a few other guys in that 6'7" range with some experience and girth to man the 5 when it is needed to defend the hole and rebound.

Kelly and Samb are ready to go. McGriff is a project player who is improving quickly and has great upside. Kelly will probably start.
