I think we have the better team but they did look pretty good today.

They are a mediocre SEC team. We already lost to one of those (Auburn) in our only P-5 game this year.

No reason we shouldn't beat MSU if we think we are a team that should have received an at large to the real Tournament.

They have been through a tough SEC conference schedule. This isn't going to be cake walk.

Kevin Love (a future borderline NBA HOFer)
Russell Westbrook (a future slam dunk NBA HOFer and league MVP)
Darren Collison (long time NBA starter)
Josh Shipp (played in the league)
Mbah Amoute (played in the league)

The only one of those who were a freshman was Love, who was a super duper 5 star can't miss one and done. Westbrook was a sophomore.

I would argue the reason we killed them was because of Howland. Kind of like the old saying... the only man who could stop Michael Jordan was Dean Smith.

01-wingedeagle I say MEMPHIS was the MOST talented team in the country that year

In terms of raw talent, I'd say UCLA was. As a team (talent and chemistry) I'd say it was us or the team that actually won the Championship, Kansas.

Kansas didn't win, Cal lost.

never mind that we lacked Williams and most of our pre-season practice due to COVID but OK...

Missed free throws lost. Hit them and that takes fouling before a 3 out of the equation.

Looking at how pumped the players were before tipoff, it was plain to me they were not going to be defeated. But to manhandle Moo state as they did, that was impressive.

In Sagarin's "RECENT" rankings, which weight recent games more heavily, Memphis is up to #11.
