I would like to see three colors teamed up: 45K (metallic gray) and PMS 298 with either one of the university blues.

I'd like to know who made the decision, and by what process, and under what authority those changes were made. I'm not outright saying they didn't have the right to do so, I'm just saying I would like to know.

Probably a committee under direction of the university marketing and communications department. These types of decisions are never the result of a single person wanting to make a change.

I see a lot of his designs all over the place.

Truth is I don't get how he ripped that head off the logo and made it his own.

I worked there for almost a decade and still work in higher-ed at another university. I know exactly how much power people can flex. I also know how decisions like this are made. There are committees for everything.

Well, that's ALSO a bad thing, because committees feel the need to justify their existence. It's counterintuitive to get paid (in whatever currency; money, appreciation, feeling important, etc.) to NOT do something. Sometimes doing nothing is what is required.

Official new Memphis logo
I’m on board with it with the logo.

I bought a Kuck Fentucky shirt from Bossman after the Calipari thing. I proudly wore it to a sports bar in Nashville during a Kentucky NCAA game. It was packed with Kentucky fans and several wanted to fight me. It was fun.

They also used the non official floating Tiger head logo several times. They definitely did not get the memo. So, who gets fired in the Sports Information Office?

They already laid off folks in the Sports Information Office this year, including the director. Those decisions have repercussions.

Very rarely do midseason logo changes make an impact on television broadcasts in the same year. Come to think of it - how often do you ever seven see midseason logo changes?

those logo assets are routinely uploaded at the beginning of the academic year (think July/August). So the floating tiger head being used on ESPN graphics at this stage of the season is not a surprise

Those teeth do stand out. They look like the teeth of a vampire, not a tiger.
The original ‘80s leaping tiger had it right. That said, the Memphis Vampires has a nice ring to it.
