On top of that, I think Trey and this team just created a whole new generation of Monarch fans. Games like that make fans for life.

The only thing that comes close in my mind was the Women's victory against Stanford that sent us to the championship game against Tennessee.

That was an amazing game!!!!

Did you just quote your own six year old post?

Probably :)

This. Best ODU game I ever saw. Imagine how far we could have gone if Hodge didn't get hurt.

We don't want to leave the girls out of this. In 2005 Sharese Grant had a tour de force performance in the CAA Championship Game at the Patriot Center against the top seeded Delaware team. Delaware had beaten the Lady Monarchs twice in the regular season but Grant poured in 35 to erase an 11 point 2nd half deficit and an OT victory. It was quite a show!

The NIT shot was the best. I had seats right behind the scorer's table, where Trey let it fly. Love it.

Another good one for the Lady Monarchs was Jazzmin Walters in the 2008 NCAA Tournament at the Ted. She connected on a three-pointer from way beyond the arc with 4 sec remaining in OT against UVa to send ODU to the "Sweet 16", only to run into UConn.

I was at the game as well in 105. Definitely a top 5 moment for me. Was also at the W&M game where they hit the 3/4 court shot on us. That was a top 5 low moment, even though not much was at stake.

My only concern is that its an aging fan base full of people that remember the Twardzik, Gatling, Sessoms, Hodge, Loughton years. A fan base that can legitimately expect 6000+ crowds, wins against some big name teams, flirtations with the top 25, NCAAs and NITs. Fans over 40 probably think of ODU as having more in common with Xavier, Wichita St and Butler, whereas the under 40 folks think of us more like JMU or Radford. We need to give the younger fans reason to be excited so they will continue to pack the place (at least when we're good) for the next generations.
I'm 30 and Idk who to compare us but to hell with jmu.

I originally said the win against Notre Dame because I physically was there but I don't remember the last time i was excited as I was when we beat Va Tech. No way we were ever favored to even be close in that game. If you ignore the rest of that season then yeah that's my best moment now.
