Looking at Transfer Portal
Saw on the Transfer Portal today that Eastern Michigan 6-8, 215lb Forward Ty Groce is transferring with one season of immediate eligilbity remaining. Groce, a two year starter for EMU averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds per game this past season and 11 points, 5 rebounds per game last season while shooting over 50% from the field both seasons. I am thinking he is similar type player to Milner Jr. so I am not sure if Toledo would be interested or vice versa. However, he is a known commodity in the MAC so he might be someone to consider if Toledo does not already have someone in mind for the last open roster spot.

RE: Looking at Transfer Portal
The MAC still has an intra-conference transfer rule that costs a player a year of eligibility if they transfer from one MAC school to another.

Unless they get a waiver from the departing (EMU) team.

Groce, another very good MAC player on his way out, he kept them in a lot of games and was undoubtedly their best player.

RE: Looking at Transfer Portal
I didn't know about the MAC Transfer Rule. With that said, anyone else have any non MAC players they know about in the Transfer Portal that might fit what Toledo needs next year to fill out the roster. i.e. most likely an interior player that can help out immediately? We already know about Emmanuel Little (Division 2) and Ken Epperson's son if he decides to transfer from Creighton.

Jannson Williams from Marshall is probably looking yo go to a P5 school but he is the type I'd love to see TK sign

You mean 6'4 isn't a power forward in TK's scheme?

RE: Looking at Transfer Portal
Former Ohio U Power Forward/Center Jason Carter (6-8, 225lb) is transferring from Xavier as a graduate transfer and will have 1 year eligibility left. If you remember, Carter was an impact player for the Bobcats as a Freshman making the All Freshman team, missed his sophomore year with an injury and averaged 16 points per game the following season before transferring when former Coach Saul Phillips was fired. At Xavier he averaged 5 and 6 points respectively the past two seasons as a starter but was plagued by injuries that effected his play. He is not sure if he is going to play another season but wants to see what his options are as he already has a Masters Degree. I'm wondering if he could get that same type of production back that he had at Ohio if he came back to play in the MAC?

He was a beast when he was at full strength.

I remember that when we played against him when he was a freshman that we couldn’t match up with him and that he had a real good outside shot from 3 point range. Would be an ideal player to fill our roster.

If we're going to be bringing in more guards then we might as well call some of our recruits and tell them not to show up. BTW, with the new transfer rules, if a kid doesn't play as a freshman, he's likely to be gone. Forget redshirting.
