New commit this evening,
Junior Vandeross, 5'10 195 ATH/CB/WR from Jesuit HS in Tampa FL
Had offers from Iowa, Iowa St., Kentucky, Virginia, UCF, Louisville and others. To be fair, it looks like all the offers from P5s came early last year, so they may have backed away for some reason. UT offer was recent, as were offers from Buffalo and Georgia St.

It doesn’t mean anything? Are you serious? It’s the only MAC title we ever win!

UT now has the right staff in place to harness the talent at hand. Toledo has built the reputation of an excellent program shown by low portal turnover. Titles will start to come over next few years. I have no doubt we are on the door step of a great era in Toledo football. This ‘22 class will further solidify our position.

Regarding staff, I'm not convinced. We haven't been losing at the recruitment or the individual player development. We've been losing at the x' and o's and unforced errors. Which coach is improved on that? Fortunately, they have a whole season to prove me wrong.

Candle is the big question... I agree. I was just talking this tonight with my season ticket buddy. Game day situational calls and choices do seem to suck in the crunch. Time management has been abysmal in tight games!!!!!!!!!!!! DUH. This keeps me up at night. Couldn’t sleep after WMU debacle. However, I think D scheme is on target or approaching target. I is still predictable but talent has provided the edge. I’m still confident

Transfer portal is going to help teams like UT a lot. low 4* and high 3* guys who would sit 2-3 years at a better program before making an impact are going to start looking at MAC/SBC/CUSA teams as kind of a "showcase league" for a year or two, where they can start early, get some good film, then hop to a higher profile team with a couple years remaining. A lot of the national recruiting experts have been expecting this to happen with the full roll-out of the portal, and it does appear to be coming to fruition.

Only offers reported on any site for Marshall were Toledo, Buffalo, CMU, USF, and Marshall, not sure where he is listed as a 4*, as 247 has him rated at an 84 which is a low to mid 3*, but his tape looks very good.

According Marshall's twitter he did get offers from Purdue & Kentucky. Also some others like FAU, Charlotte and UAB. Don't see a South Carolina offer tho. Rivals reports most of those, but in general the recruiting sites are not always all that accurate.

For sure...especially over the last year. I'd expect a lot of rankings to go pretty crazy over the next few months as the camp circuit ramps up a lot and evaluators finally get a chance to see a lot of these kids for the first time. '22 was always going to be the rough year for recruitment since most of the legwork for '21 was done pre-Pandemic.

Aren't schools stuck with the question of where do you put them? Has there been any relaxation on roster size?

Something like 13 Seniors on the 2021 roster.
1 DT
1 DE
1 LB
1 CB
1 S
3 OL
2 TE
2 WR
1 P

It's a weird mix of having a ton of people on the roster from Covid years PLUS the new 25 intake limit from all sources in any year...so there are a lot of complications that are going to make it easier for the "smaller" programs to get in with better recruits.

So essentially we have truly become the minor leagues for the NFL…guys start at High A/Double AA and earn their way into a AAA spot, and then the majors.

ugh, I need a graphic.
Boca says we have 13 "Seniors," which to me seems a young team. How many in each category (whatever those are these days), predicting how many we can recruit fr 2022?

13 "COVID Seniors" - players who were seniors last year, and took their extra year. Actually the present roster lists 14 names, so not sure who the extra player is from Boca's count. Players who were juniors last year are still juniors, and etc.
Only this year's COVID seniors don't count against the scholarship limits. So, this year they get 13 (or 14) extra players, but next year you essentially have 5 recruiting classes worth of players to distribute scholarships over. In football, that might not be as much of an issue given how many players normally take a redshirt year at some point anyway, and a lot eventually transfer or leave for other reasons.

Notice my post said "something like 13" not exactly. Going by position listing you can tell I missed on the LS.
