RE: Congratulations, Syracuse!
Good game, it was a long last minute. Quite a change in the team from the regular season to the tournament. I think there are only 2 ACC teams left in the tournament (Florida State and Syracuse) for the sweet 16.

Can Buddy Boeheim make himself into a lottery pick this off season by continuing to score 30 points a game?

He is not close to being a lottery pick at this point. He is a Jr too...I think he actually stays two more extra years.

He should be able to be a shooter in the NBA...I expect he can make a team.

I expect he'll get into coaching... wouldn't be surprised to see him as a college HC by 2035.

Seriously, I think Jim goes out when Buddy goes out.

I expect either Red Autry or GMac becomes the head coach in '23-'24. I'm not sure Hopkins will get offered as he is driving Washington back into the dumpster in the PAC12.

Do we stay exclusive zone? not sure but probably for the first few years. I see Buddy doing his pro ball thing until about age 30...then he comes on the staff at SU. He'll either be lucky and fall into SU's HC gig in the 2030's or he goes to a midmajor as a HC after a few years on SU's staff for seasoning. There are a ton of midmajor schools in Upstate NY that would love to hire him IMHO even if only for 3-5 years.

I think he has potential to make the NBA. They love 3 point shooters especially ones who are close to 40%. I think the average is 35% to make 3 pointers in the NBA.
Buddy would have to improve his handle but with two more years, he can do it.
This year the NBA has turned into a major 3 point game so good shooters will get the chance.

I don't know about Jim Boeheim retiring. He seems to be hitting his prime. He has made 3 sweet 16s in 5 years (2016, 2018, 2021) and 2020 there was no tournament. He also had a final four in 2016. He had 3 tourny wins in 2018 because Syracuse was in the first four. Why quit when you are in your prime coaching years?

Because he's 77.

I think SU has an excellent shot to make the Final 4 if Buddy can keep playing at this level I believe he will be a NBA draft pic this season . If Buddy gets drafted I believe his father retires he will have accomplished his ultimate goal coaching his son coaching his son into a nba player.

i know, i was being a bit sarcastic. I get the feeling that he loves coaching and although he likes golfing, i am not sure he would be content to just sit at home away from the game. A lot of his friends are in basketball. Anyways, it will be his decision, he won't be forced out of Syracuse.

I hope Buddy can make the NBA but I think playing another year or two would help him work on his game. He is a really hard worker and is a really good shooter.
Perhaps Jim may retire after Buddy leaves, i hope not, but it is his decision and he won't be forced out by Syracuse.
