DeAndre Williams - what if?
Lots of talk on this board about DeAndre Williams being the catalyst of the team's turn-around. So, what might have happened had we had him from day 1?

South Dakota Tournament:
Western Kentucky: WKU's big guy, Charles Bassey probably doesn't get 25 & 14 with Williams guarding him. That would have made a difference in that game and resulted in a win with Williams playing.
West Virginia: WVa was #15 going into that tournament. They finished 4th in the Big 12, and went 8-9 vs teams that got into the NCAA. I'm not sure that Williams is enough to get us a win vs WVa.

Auburn: Another strong inside player is probably enough to get that win.

Williams joined the team the next game vs. Tulane, so no reason to expect a different outcome the rest of the way.

+2 wins (vs. Auburn & WKU) may have moved the needle, but not very much. That might have gotten us in as an 11 or 12 seed, but we'd have still been sweating on bid night.

If Deandre had played since the start of the season...

The team would have adjusted by the time conference play started...We likely win both Tulsa games...The conference regular season...Played Houston in the Final of the conference tourney and 19-6 I would say 8-10 seed range...Solidly in

It also removed a loss to VCU. Likely replaced with WVU but obviously that’s better.

NICE! The unlevel playing ground is always so apparent. Any P5 teams has losses without a key player disregarded by tournament committee. And 2 other losses were in close games at Houston and vs Houston in Texas.

D@*# you ncaa!

I don't know if the guys would have figured it out in time during the OOC schedule, but we would have for sure cleaned up in conference.

Publicly I will swear that the NCAA did it on purpose because they new that without Williams we'd be a hurtn. And if they had let him join the team, we'd be ranked in the top 5.

Privately, i am aware of the POSSIBLITY that he would have been caught up in the the same game time South Dakota malaise that affected the rest of the team.

I doubt they knew that much about our teams dependence on Williams. I think they just saw Memphis and said- We will deal with that one last and they can’t do anything about it.....

Oh the conspiracy...

But then why did they clear Nolley...

It was Williams previous school being a bunch of pricks that was the problem.

It's not a conspiracy; its a fact. Ned speaks truth.

Close thread.

Correct. By beating Western Kentucky, we would have played WVa in the finals of the South Dakota tournament. Western Kentucky would have played VCU in the 3rd place game.

Ike told u Dudes many times the Dude was gonna be cleared
Remember, Ike had to drive to K.C. and speak personally to a Dude, who listened to IKE's advice and
Cleared everyone.
Long drive but Ike enjoyed himself running the road in IKE's Tiger Blue Lamborghini, plus a nice steak dinner and some decent But most importantly we got the Dude cleared.
Ike still hasn't received a dime for gas money or the two tickets he received

RE: DeAndre Williams - what if?
I think with Williams playing, we easily win 2 more games on the season - possibly more.
I also think we would have been solidly in by Selection Sunday.
Finally, I think this would have prompted the NCAA to miraculously get our pending IARP case closed before Selection Sunday and we would have been ineligible this year.
As it is, they sit on it another year and nail us next year.
There's your conspiracy.

Oh, that's true. And the Evansville staff should be ashamed. The NCAA of course would never force the issue, so they were content to allow Evansville to block it.

My point was...As good as Ike's street info is, he can't really claim this one.
