He's tall. He seems he can run but without knowing who else is on the floor, he may be fast, he may be slow. He may have stamina he may not. I'm skeptical of the reach. Narrow shouldered, nothing seems different about the arms. Very little muscle development. He seems he can catch a ball on the run smoothly and make a move as long as it doesn't involve putting the ball on the floor. Doesn't look like he's been taught well. Swings his arms like a standing broad jumper when elevating, this will cost RBs. Even a few where he caught the ball at belly level instead of high.

I'm guessing he's a tall project?

I’m hoping not. This program doesn’t need more “projects”, particularly in the paint. We are now at least a solid PF and back-up center away from being a MAC contender again, maybe even another PG for the roster. How TK fills these spots may have long-term impact on his career and whether he moves up the ladder.

The Blade story today on Carcoana says that UT has one more scholarship to give, likely a guard (UGH!). If Edu gets hurt again, that would mean the roster has one player taller than 6-7. There was a quote from a person at Eurohopes that called Carcoana a "tremendous get" for Toledo. That may be a placement service for European kids so I don't know what it means. Anyway, I like the kid. At least he won't have to spend three years gaining weight. There are two videos out there that I have seen. The one on YouTube has him shooting from the outside a lot. The one on Verbal Commits shows mostly an inside game.

If we recruit yet ANOTHER guard instead of a solid PF who can play in the paint, then that will tell me all I need to know about where this program is likely headed. I know what they say about needing great guard play—we’ve had some pretty good guards the past few seasons, in fact during most of TK’s time here. That had not been the problem.

No kidding. Lose 2 6-10/11 guys, sign one big and a guard (if the above is true). After getting our ass kicked inside for the last few games. Solid.

I wasn't real pleased with the post-game interview with K after the last loss. He said something about being 1-14 from 3. Well coach, there is other ways to approach the game than chucking up 3s and hoping you make half of them.

I’d like us to get a good transfer either a true point guard with skills like Marreon or a 6’8- 6’9 that’s mobile to fill out our roster.

RE: Big Man Commit for BBall
With Rollins, Saunders, Hill, Wilson and Farmer as perimeter players, I would think TK would be looking at interior players for this last roster opening unless he feels he needs another point guard in the program. With going on the assumption that the new big man recruit is not going to be a impact player his first year, I assume that the coaching staff is going to target a “Power Forward” type Transfer that can come in and play large minutes immediately similar to what Wilson has done at Ohio U. With over 140 so called “Power Forwards” in all sizes and abilities available in the Transfer Portal, the Rockets are going to have a large pool to evaluate if they decide to go that route. They can tell these recruits that they have a chance to come in and play right away with a team coming off 21 wins and having a lot of pieces already in place to put another very good team on the floor next season.

Wishful thinking...

And an assistant coach looking for a handout with him ... be careful.

Also, with Millner and Shumate isn't the PF position covered???

The need is for post players and (maybe) a PG.

Arnór Eyþórsson is a 6'7 slender wing with a good long range shot who has a lot to learn about Div 1 basketball. He's not the rim protector and rebounder we need now.

RE: Big Man Commit for BBall
After watching a couple videos of full games of Elevation Prep I'm not seeing this commitment as an upgrade over Komagum or Maranka right away. Maybe in a couple years. He has skills and savvy and seems to understand the game but he doesn't look ready for D1 anytime soon. In the games I saw he didn't start for Elevation Prep but did get significant minutes. One player on the Elevation Prep team I was really impressed with was a wing out of Chicago named Reggie Ward Jr. I believe he is Class of 2021 and still uncommitted - I know the Rockets are already loaded with 2 guards and wings.

I am disappointed we didn't get more out of Maranka and Komagum. Usually it takes post players longer to develop and it seems like they are leaving before reaching their full potential. Just have to trust the coaching staff on these decisions I guess.

If this coaching staff can’t address our 2 glaring weaknesses—a true power forward for a share of minutes on the floor & a ready-to-go back-up center (or starter if Edu isn’t healthy enough to go)—then I fear they will have sealed their eventual fate if a new AD wants the Big Dance. When you look at teams that won the MAC tournament in recent years, they all were capable of playing in the paint, something that teams have taken advantage of against the Rockets.

Must have that deeper bench. So that I won't catch crap from others on this site about talking about another team's coach; all I am going to say is this, this coach took all the blame for the melt down in the conference tournament. He also took the blame throughout the second half of the season when he only played 7 players, instead of using others off the bench to give more relief. Perhaps Coach K sees the light and establish a deeper bench.

if he's committing to more depth he'll use the last scholarship on a grad transfer. edu, summate, milner, Saunders, Rollins, moss, hill, Jacobi, grad transfer (pf or center) is your 9 man rotation with farmer or Wilson maybe in the mix

Not playing 5 Conference games in Feb and 2 in March might keep a little more spring in your step.
I see it all the time, especially in the NBA where they might play 4 or 5 games in a 7 or 8 day span. A team that normally shoots the 3 well ends up at 20 %clip in the later games. End up with a flatter shot. Can't break on the ball, etc.

The roster needs to be balanced, but I am thinking a team needs 3 big guys. Big means to me 6”9’ - 10’ + and 240 lbs plus. This is a lot to ask, but if you don’t have 3, and 1 gets hurt, you will always have times during the game you will get dominated inside. This year caused me to think about goals. I think the standard should go up. The goal should be to advance in the NCAA tournament, which requires a well balanced team and a number of bigs. If you are advancing in the NCAA tournament, you’re winning the MAC. The perspective on the purpose of the team determines how these decisions are made. Richmond has 3 bigs and pretty good balance. Toledo looked more athletic until the imbalance inside became the Richmond plan. Another big could be the answer, but losing Marreon really hurt Toledo. My guess is he moves on to start his career. Toledo will need two quality point guards.

I think they have 2 quality point guards Hill broke his leg I am not sure it was not more impactful than Edu's injury in some ways. But it we add one even better than him I am all for that.
