When a lower seeded team beats a higher seeded team in the NCAA Tournament, it's called an "upset". The word implies it is a bad thing, not a good thing. I think I remember an NBA game once and the announcer said "If ____ loses, it's a disappointment but if ____ loses it's a disaster". I'd say when Virginia lost in 2018 that could have ended Virginia basketball forever. Of course 2019 happened:) You love seeing the little guy win but the big guy hurts. I can tell you if Illinois loses today to Drexel they may never recover. When will Illinois ever get a chance to have a season like this again? Duke lost in the first round in 2012 to Lehigh and in 2014 to Mercer. In 2015, they won the national championship.

I'm sure you'd like to see some upsets unless it's your own team. I'm also guessing there are some teams you'd like to see lose more than others.

Obviously the top of my list of teams I DON'T want to lose is Illinois. I don't want any of the Big Ten teams to lose early either. It would be really cruel to see Gonzaga go 26-0 and go out in the first round as well. I don't want to see Villanova lose in the 1st round although I see it happening without Gillespie.

As for the upsets I want to see happen, well I would've cheered for Drexel being from Philly but slight problem in that they're playing Illinois. #1 on my list is Baylor. I would party if they lost today. I don't really hate Oklahoma State but if they lose early Illinois won't have to play them. None of the Pac-12 schools are seeded that high but if #5 Colorado, #6 USC, or #7 Oregon lose I'd get a chuckle at it. Oh yeah, add Oregon State to the list of upsets I don't want to see. Ugh! I'm already embarrassed UCLA won. I'm not too fond of West Virginia either and I've said one of my favorite names of the tournament is "Morehead" State so go "Morehead" (plus another upset helps Illinois). How about Illinois vs. Morehead State in the Midwest Regional final?

So which top teams are you hoping will not get upset and which top teams do you really hope will go down in the first round?

Want: Winthrop or Morehead
Don't want: Liberty or Iona
